TAKEN FROM ANOTHER FORUM: Take if for what it is worth.....NFL reports the Johnson plans to meet with Goodell soon to see where he stands. He's trying to get 2 games of the suspension lifted if possible is my take on that one! He also said he has a book of things to stay away from.

The 2-game reduction apparently is keyed to whether Tank met certain conditions, some related to the counseling he was to get. He wasn't driving drunk, so that shouldn't be held against him, and I would think it would be hard to penalize a guy just for driving 40 in a 25 mph zone (but who knows).

A lot could depend on Tank's demeanor -- does he seem contrite, does he sound sincere when he says he's learned his lesson -- and the reports of the counsellors.

I'm hoping Tank grades out well and can help out 2 games early.

Goodell may be looking for a player to reward for doing what was asked while suspended.

Goodell will probably extend the suspension and give the Pats our #1 from the Browns next year. ;)

knowing how the league usually deals with us, they'll probably add 4 games to the suspension rather than reduce it

I say good luck to him in that effort but if the Commish doesn't take a couple of games off the suspension I'll understand and won't hold it against him. We signed him knowing he had an 8 game suspension (6 games left on it) so that's how many games I'm expecting him to miss. I'd be a pleasent suprise if he gets 2 games taken off though.

I think there is a good chance this might happen. There was a post the other day about how Godell was impressed with how Tank has been and thinks he really wants to change. We can always hope, but you can't hold the fake DUI against him.

Right, and I believe it was Goodell himself who said he would consider reducing the suspension when he imposed it if Tank did certain things. We'll see. We can only hope.

as hard as i have been on Goodell at times i think that if he truly sees that Tank has become a better person and learned from his mistakes that he will reduce the suspension so people see that he isnt just some dictator suspendin guys left and right (well except freakin belichick... sigh...) but someone that is just tryin to improve the league and reward players who learn from their mistakes.

At some point Godell need to reward those who are doing everything in their power to right the ship. I'm not saying Tank is on right path nor he deserves reduction of suspension, only if Tank has met all the requirements set forth by commish and commish feels he has turned his life around.

When a suspended player shows that he has met all the expectation of commish, then commish can show a good will by reducing small portion of suspension to show there can be some reward for change of behavior and being a better person.

Not to mention a lot of this was over a DUI that was not a DUI.

That is My biggest issue with Goodell suspending players some pre verdicts. I'm long on due process then whack the guilty.

Tank was "deemed" DUI in fact I believe his test came back under limit? And why charges dropped....

Maybe the heat Goodell took over the suspension of Wade Wilson will swade him to allow Tank to come back early. Its only obvious Wilson Suspension was far to harsh considering what he gave Belacheat.

The test came back that he was UNDER the legal limit but that he HAD been drinking. Who knows how long between the test and the last drink. He could very well have been legally drunk when he got in his car. Remember he refused to take the test administered when he was stopped. That bought time. Maybe just enough. Any way you look at it he had been drinking. And he was driving.

i believe he still has 8 and not including the bye week.

i think his suspension was 8 games, not 8 weeks. i could be wrong.

He was innocent and charges dropped. He was not legally drunk and sanctions if imposed on that incident were WRONG.

Goodell is ruling above/before the law. That concerns me as a general American....What gives him that right?

I agree, seem's Tank Johnson's suspension is rather stiff.

Hate to beat a dead horse but I will. Bill Bilichick got off light for what I believe is a more severe offense to the league, it's players and more importantly it's fans.

Goodell says the video wasn't used for that Jet's game, and acknowledged that it had no effect on that game. Ok.

Wade Wilson takes a banned substance to help his diabetes. The league finds that he did not pass it on to any players. It had no effect on the outcome of ANY game the Cowboys have played since he took it. So why the five game suspension for Wade? Ok, he broke a law by receiving the HGH shipment. Normally it's a 4-game suspension but Goodell added one because he believes coaches should be held to a higher standard. Riiight.

Hadn't Bilichick been warned about this sort of thing before though? So again, why 8 games for Tank Johnson? Why not drop it to the 2 served but require him to continue the counseling 'til the end of the season>
