Is it possible that Goodell takes 1 game off the suspension and not 2?

That scenario would be pretty nice for us as well... we have a bye after our 7th game, so Tank would have 2 full weeks to prepare for his Cowboys debut AT PHILLY!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the opposite. Given the backlash from the Bellicheat penalty as being too lenient, I could see Goodell standing pat on this suspension so as not to have it interpreted as his office being all bark and no bite when it comes to his "get tough policies". I doubt he would want his image as one where he doesn't have the stomach to enforce his own penalties.

With that said, he may very well want to show the positive impact of rehabillitation and contrition to demonstrate that he is a hard but forgiving commish when players take responsibility for their actions and work to improve themselves.

I could honestly see it going either way. But it really doesn't bother me either way what the outcome is if tank decides to seek a reduction of his suspension. I have already accepted that he will be out 8 games.

The test came back that he was UNDER the legal limit but that he HAD been drinking. Who knows how long between the test and the last drink. He could very well have been legally drunk when he got in his car. Remember he refused to take the test administered when he was stopped. That bought time. Maybe just enough. Any way you look at it he had been drinking. And he was driving.

I see your point about refusing the original test and buying him some time, but we will never know and the test that mattered came back he was under the limit. When you're under the limit it's legal so it doesn't matter if he was "drinking and driving" or not because he was legal.

Here is an old article talking about how Tank basically views the suspension as 6 games and as long as he doesn't get in trouble that will happen. Man we can all hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are many other articles just like this saying the exact same thing.

"I am looking at it like a six-game suspension, because I definitely am very confident that I'm capable of doing everything that he's asked me to do and more," Johnson said.

I think if Tank requests the 6 game suspension it should be done very humbly, and very modestly.

And not brash or brazen, or trying to minimize any of his actions, like some on this board are.

He should try something like, ..

Tank: "Sir, I know you gave me an 8 game suspension, and I agree that that is very fair, and I am ready and willing to serve the 8 games if that is what you still feel is appropriate, but I have been adhering to what you told me to, and would just appreciate it if you consider the 6 games that we discussed, .. thank you, good day Sir."

And  as he walks out. :D

Goodell will probably extend the suspension and give the Pats our #1 from the Browns next year. ;)

BOY, Ain't that the truth? Plus add 2 more games to Wilson's suspension just on principle alone.

Potentially good news? Yes.

But I wouldn't hold my breath. That arrest --- regardless of charges being dropped -- was too close a call for Tank. He got lucky on that one. I doubt the commish ignores that.

On if the league has told him when he can play again yet:
"I look to speak to Commissioner Goodell fairly quickly here and get his take on what the effects and stipulations of my suspension are. Whatever he says is what I'll abide by and I'll do as much as I can in Dallas to be around the guys. But as of right now, I'm just training here in Tempe (Ariz.) at API just getting my body acclimated to the routine of waking up, going to practice and meetings."

Maybe he will lift those 2 games, to make up for being so harsh on Wade Wilson and too light on the Patriots. :)

The conditions for Johnson include:
* No further adverse involvement with law enforcement and full compliance with any requirements imposed by a court.
* Compliance with all league requirements, including counseling.
* No participation in any practices or other organized team activities during the period of the eight-game suspension. (During the suspension, he may be at the Bears’ facility for counseling sessions and other approved activities such as physical treatment or individual workout sessions.)
Those conditions are nothing, he should easily meet them, if he really want to show commish that he can right the ship.
