Run Dak, Run!

that's not a formula for winning football. a QB may run 80 yards once and we win, but consistently running....teams will stop that...and Titans did last night. they had a spy on Dak and several time he got outside and tried to run, but there was someone there to push him out of bounce....a QB needs to pass and pass effectively from the pocket...running is secondary....and if youa re saying Dak can not pass from the pocket, then Dak is not a QB we need.

Well, when you stop the Qb from running with a spy, thats one less LB crowding the LOS. It opens up other things. I don't think their is a hair of difference between Cam Newton and Dak. Its just that Cam is in a system that plays to his skill set. Even Aaron Rodgers who also runs a lot when he's healthy knows how to roll out of the pocket to buy time. Why limit the offense to pocket passing and handing the ball off to Zeke on 1st down when its clearly not working?

of Dak's 243 yards passing. 61 came on the last drive.....against prevent defense....and 58 was on screen passes. which means....he had 124 yards passing for the first 3 quarters...outside of the last drive and screen passes, he was 10/21 to WRs and TEs............that's not going to win you a lot of games in the NFL.....not saying screen passes don't count. they do and it was a good call, but 124 yards of passing down field to WR and TEs.....

there is a huge difference between cam and Dak. Teams want to force Dak to pass from the pocket. they can easily scheme and make him ineffective. Newton can burn you from the pocket and he can also run. when you force Dak to stay in te pocket, chances are it will be incomplete pass or something short. and they know he will probably pull it down and run, thus some one spying on him, either rush late and stunt as titans did or flush him out and run him out of bounce.

3 of the 5 sacks last night were Dak's fault, for not throwing the ball away and not seeing the pressure or getting rid of the ball sooner. its what every good NFL QB does...last night he was 10/21 outside of the last drive (against prevent defense) and screen passes (5). screen passes are good, but they can't be your bread and butter in the NFL and after the first 2, Titans figured it out and last three were ineffective.

Right now we are on the level of the Jets or Browns. NUFF SAID.

McFarland also brought up what all of us have known. Connor Williams is not a guard and Collins is not a RT. He actually mentioned this.
Agree. Collins is just a symptom of the offensive play. He is not focused. Connor Williams is a physical problem. He is just being man handled and played out of position. He is not strong or stout enough to handle the OG. Collins was perfect at OG because he was athletically superior for the position. When Leary left the Cowboys should have left Collins at OG and sign a RT in FA or draft on of those annual RT gifts from Wisconsin, Ohio St., LSU or Alabama.

It really is maddening how inept our coaching staff seems to be. What seems obvious to the majority of football viewers seems to escape the coaches mental capacity. Our most explosive players aren't given the chance to be explosive.

When Tavon Austin was healthy, how many opportunities were he actually given in a game? How many deep passes have we seen go to our, "deep threat WR," Thompson? Why is the FB on the team when he is never used? Why is Rico on the team when he is never used? Why is Blake Jarwin even on the team? Why is the flat and the screen the only pass routes that we see Zeke run? Why is Dak not running when the stats say that our win percentages are very high when he runs and very low when he does not? Why do nearly all of our passing plays take more than 4 seconds to develop, resulting in Dak holding on to the ball entirely too long? Do our coaches even know what a slant route is?

At this point, I am done with Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan. We are not going anywhere with these guys controlling the offense. Though my faith is Dak is quickly waining, I feel that he can still win games for us if he has a coaching staff that utilizes him to his strengths as opposed to forcing him to rely on his weaknesses.
Why is Blake Jarwin even on the Team? That was funny.
The Cowboys OL of the 90's was awful at running screens. The reason is they were man handling DL so no one felled for the fake that Larry Allen 700lb bench press was all of a sudden not be able to block his man. This OL is built the same way except Connor Williams can not block bull rushers which is pretty much every NFL DT. But they keep running the screen to the right side. Who is going to believe Zach Martin and Collins all of a sudden can't block. Cowboys have no imagination to get Elliot in space like James White of the Patriots.

I think the OL is going to slowly improve with Columbo. Collins taking a step back this year is a huge problem for the offense. He has so much talent but he's making way too many mistakes.............. that all goes back to coaching.

The guy runs for 80 yards against j-ville and tears them up.........and then nothing.... Dak is not a pocket passer and whoever is trying to make him one is a moron and needs to go. I'm not saying Dak is my ideal franchise QB but as long as he is in the game, he needs to do what he does best.............which is not taking 5 and 7 step drops. He needs to roll out away from pressure and take off when he has green in front of him. No reason we should lose games like last night.
They seem to get away from whatever works - the panacea approach. Guess they thought Cooper would be the magic answer.

Yeah, Dak running is exhibit A. Its as if he was told after the jacksonville game that executing the play call is more important than winning.

A franchise QB does what needs to be done. And evolves. Dak can look brilliant, but is starting to look inept.

Its b/c, like you said, the team tends to go away from what is working. Its inexplicable why Dak has pretty much refused to take advantage of the green grass in front of him.

Plays like he has been coached - to not make mistakes; and against his instincts - he looks like a fish out of water.

I find it hard to believe that Linehan is holding Dak back from running. His job is on the line and he knows it. I feel like that is coming from somewhere else.

Its about moving the chains and staying out of 3rd and long. He doesn't need to run for 30 yards to be effective. He is a dink and dump QB with some wheels.
This staff has proved over and over that it can't manage games. Plural. There are tons of examples where we were left scratching out heads. Abandoning what is working.

Maybe the coached dont have the balls to tell Jerry the truth and they are outsmarting us all and sabotaging their own situation!!!!
We have incompetence on multiple cascading levels. This cannot be fixed, this has to be destroyed and rebuilt from scratch.

He’s not good in the pocket,...I don’t know why they keep sticking with this? My gosh,he’ll stand there with a huge gap in front of him,and wind up throwing to nowhere or getting sacked. I’d really like to know just what they’ve been doing for 2 weeks before this game?

Well forget it. Dak is getting an extension and we’re painted into a corner now. This seriously sucks..

I agree but I missed the first 15 minutes of this game. My wife was watching the Voice which shows you how we are losing interest in the Jonesboys. However, after seeing this, I now now why Collins is not focused and the Cowboys lose. Our imbecile coaches do not reward their OL. After a successful screen with the ball at the 4 yard line they run a wired design outside pitch to Zeke instead of bringing the FB in and slamming it on the right side of the OL. Then the next play they line up in the I and call a dumb pass play. That is an imbecile that makes play calls like that with a run blocking OL, a FB, and a top leading rusher in the NFL. That makes your OL lose focus. Two straight dive running plays get you at least a FG.

That play is not Dak Prescott fault. The Titans knew on 2nd down after that pitch out the Cowboy were going to throw. Just like everyone knows that Dallas rarely gives the ball to Zeke after a stop or lost of yardage. It was only 2nd and goal from the 6 yard line. You don't trust the right side of that OL (Martin and Collins) to move the ball 3-4 yards? The word is play action. You can use play action when you show you are not playing by running the ball.

I am glad I did not see that in real time or I would have had a stroke yelling at the T.V. God loves me.
