Run defense is still an issue

Hey Thunderpimp91,

Again, you have the best name on CZ. I'm a fan of what you're doing there, buddy.

Anyway, what you're saying is mostly true. A better measure though would be how many times the running game got the opponent into 3rd and 3 or better, and how the run game affected TOP.

Oh I agree completely. In the run game, especially today's game situational stats and explosive plays are typically the best indicator. Those take time to dig into though, and I dont want to do it haha.

For this defense which will always prioritize playing the pass first if you have 3 top 10 running backs and you limit them to 4.25YPC it's often times going to be a victory. It's the Aaron Jones 5.8 against us that really hurt. The game that continues to confuse me is the Philly game. They gave up 132 through the air and 3.5YPC on the ground, yet it felt like that offense marched up and down at times on the Cowboys.

Really? Dallas is one of the top teams on 3rd down conversions. I know you want Moore to run it constantly, but then that is why he is an OC and you are a fan. Cowboys are moving the ball, one of the top teams in converting 3rd downs and when we get into the redzone Dallas ranks 3rd in the league. I think Moore may actually know what he is doing.

I dont want Moore to run it every play but when its averaging 5 yards a carry and your sitting at 2nd and 5 I think running it again is a damn good idea.In fact Id run it till they stop it . Force them to come up with the safeties and then dak can torch them with intermediate throws to Cedee and gallup and shultz.

Moore may look like like a genius in the stat category but ive watched him too many times try to get cute when all you had to do is ram it down their throats

I was being half tongue and cheek with my comment though

Even though Cowboys improved in amount of yards given up they still need to get better in run defense because they will face at least two teams that can run the ball with a QB that can throw the ball to compliment it instead of having 5 turnovers.

Front office should consider signing Star Lotulelei and beef up the middle like Eagles did with Suh & Joseph,

Nope. I would bring in Malcolm Brown, Danny Shelton, and Vernon Butler to the practice squad. Especially Brown who has championship resume and coaching.

Now if you think that don't think DC think that as well? I want the option of run or pass and what I'm seeing in this team moving the ball and this team putting the ball in the endzone. You say force them to come up and stop the run? yet that is what they are doing. Moore has stayed with the run, this year. Of course there are times you will not do that like when you are trying to overcome penalties which we get a lot and of course 2 min offense. Outside of that he has worked Zeke and Pollard this season

I like Shelton better but Star is a better NT with true strength to command double team.

You always have the run pass option. Im trying to remember what game it was and i think we ended up winning but It was 2nd and 2 and that warrants a run or a solid play action after you have established the run but moore tried to get cute or dak audibled not sure which one but Dak threw a pick not sure if that which game that was
its situational awareness that annoys me about him. Another one were 2nd and 1 and he tries to get cute with a jet sweep we lose 8 to 10 and the next play is incomplete and we punt. And its happened more than that

I do think Moore having #1 offense as long as he has says something but that dont translate in the playoffs. Coaching, defense and solid run game wins championships

I don't always agree with every call even those that end up working out. But in the end I judge based on how productive they are offensively. His units have been ranked at the top in 3 of his 4 years in Dallas, with 2020 being a bad year with injury with Dak and the Oline, outside of that Cowboys have ranked in the top 5 each year. Despite the face we have many who will claim Dak sucks as a QB so you have an OC with a bad QB and yet his units are ranking in the top. I do agree you earn your strips in post season both as a coach and a player and he has yet to get that done.

ha, I saw that and thought... 4.25 per carry isn't good

It's not atrocious, but it's certainly nothing to brag about

No actually it sucks .. we know this because that's what Zeke's average is this year and every day people here keep telling us he sucks.. It was also Emmitt Smith's career average.. so he obviously sucked too..

I think Parson was right when he commented after the Packers game of guys getting selfish, where guys were looking to get sacks and not maintaining their responsibilities in the run game. Since GB where we gave up over 200 yard rushing the Cowboys have been focused on guys carrying out there assignments Minn with Dalvin Cook team rushing for 73 yards NY 90 yards and now Colts with 106 3 very good RB with Cook, Barkley and Taylor who was the NFL rushing leader last season. The key was not better players as Quinn said we have the players it is a matter of making adjustment and guys carrying out their responsibilities. As Quinn said you got to earn the opportunity to rush the passer

With Zeke, I don't love his contract. Don't love that we rode him when he wasn't healthy against SF last year. But Zeke's earned all-time Cowboy respect from me.

It hit me in the feels a bit when the crowd chanted Zeke before the TD. I'm a cynic when it comes to this team, but that one got me.

That was a nice moment.. It was good to see that many Cowboys fans have actually developed an appreciation for him. Just goes to show that the mediots and the 5-6 "fans" who hate on him daily here don't speak for everybody. I would encourage you to go watch his guest spot on the Miller Lite Cowboys Hour from October 24th right after the game where he got hurt. You can watch it on dallascowboys.com and I think if you listen to you it you can clearly see the young man's growth and maturity as well as his appreciation for Pollard as a backfield mate. He's a team guy.. and it shows not only in his play on the field but in how he conducts himself as a teammates in practice and on the sidelines. I will be sad when he leaves the Dallas Cowboys whenever that day comes.. Because I am always sad when great players are no longer part of my team.
