I know its mostly bad Oline play but it seems JG is giving all 3 backs a chance to make a play. I wonder which of the 3 will step up. I am starting to believe Felix is better as a complimentary back. Choice and Murray ? maybe but to be honest that kid on the practice squad reminds me of a true Frank Gore type Rb. Tanner is his name?

I want to see more Murray. I think we know what Choice can do, adn Felix is hurt again, so they might as well go with more Murray.

Can Murray be a 20 carry back?

If Felix can't play they will go with some combo of Choice and Murray. Murray won't start getting 20 carries, and neither will Choice. Might even see Tanner get a few.

We won't know until they try. We know Felix can't. Choice might be, but jeez it seems like he has a lot of carrys the end up in 1, 0, or -1 gains/losses. In all fairness, I thnk part of that is definitely the O-line and two good run defenses in consecutive weeks.

I dont think it is going to matter until they get the issues on the offensive line fixed. The way our opponents are getting penetration we need to go back to running more draws and delays. I would also like to see them stick with getting the backs involved in the passing game, Choice had a few big gains through the air and they never went back to him. All 3 of our backs are great in space, they need to take better advantage of it.

Thing is when u have a bad oline a big power type back is best to create holes. Tanner is beastly.

Not sure if it's the line, the backs, or maybe we ran into two tough run defenses.

Phillip tanner weighs 214 pounds.

Yea but he runs like a monster. He reminds me of Dez in a RB form lol. Again Im just wondering what back or oline adjustments must be made.

:starspin I don't know if Tanner would be any more productive, but considering how both Jones and Choice haven't done much at the RB spot so far, give Tanner an occasional carry. I realize he may not be where he needs to be in terms of blitz pick up and catching the ball, but, perhaps he may be given an occasional carry just to see if he can move the chains more than Jones or Choice.

Jones, Choice and Murray - we've tried 3 RB's, so it's a little difficult to believe the RB's bear a great deal of the blame.

Choice looked alright yesterday when given opportunities. I thought he was the best of the backs.

I think it's safe to say it's the line or the running plays themselves, or a combo of the two and not the backs. Barber, Jones, Choice and now Murray have all looked pedestrian the last two years. All of those backs have had enough success running the ball at some point, even if it was just college in Murray's case, to rule out lack of talent with our backs being the problem.

I think the line is on the right track but Kosier is not a powerful guy. Smith is probably no where near the strength he'll be in 2-3 years. The pass protection is better on the right side but we lack the strength to get push and open holes right now.

Nagy is also not the strongest guy right now so I think that explains why the run game struggled week one. Put in Kowalski, who's also still developing NFL strength next to a LG who just joined the team and it's not surprising the line struggled week two.

If Costa can get healthy and Dockery gets a little more work under his belt, I think we'll do much better. Kowalski/Kosier/Smith, as a 20 year old rookie, does not make for a beefy oline on the middle and right side. Free's one knock is he's not able to get the most push either.

It's going to take some time to get the line clicking. It's pretty amazing they did not do worse yesterday under the circumstances.

5 carries for 5 yards was alright? 2 yards, -5 yards, 2 yards, 5 yards, 1 yard is not really alright. He had at least one good reception that I remember but nobody looked good running it.

One thing I kept noticing about Choice is his perceived lack of vision, I saw gaps just to his right or left, yet he drove right into the pile.

I would like to see the other 3 get reps.

Of course, when Dez returns all the RB's will look like all-pro.:laugh2:

Allrighty then.
He is a real RB like Gore yes. He seems the type u can feed him 20 a game.

i wonder if using some zone blocking with our line would help. The line is very mobile.
