Yes, Rocky, yes. I couldn't agree more. Establishing an effective running game early will be critical to this game. Save the fireworks of our passing attack for later. Controlling the game on the ground will frustrate the Brown's defense and get them out of their element. The passing lanes will open up in the season and third quarter. That's when Dak shreds the Brown's secondary with his superior weapons catching the ball, including the TEs. The Browns will be tested to keep up, but if they do, the Cowboys will need to revert back to that "ground and pound" game they established in the first quarter. Get the lead early and keep it by keeping the ball and killing the clock.
Absolutely spot on , run the ball beat good football teams.

This game against Cleveland is such a great game on many levels. It’s opening day and on the road. Both teams have questions and injuries. What’s Watson going to look like? What’s the Cowboys running game going to look like? But it all boils down to being such a fantastic test from a physical team that can run the ball and stop the run against the Cowboys who have failed to do both of late. That’s been their cryptonite for a few years now and this will be a great test.

To negate the pressure from Garrett and the others, I’m hoping MM tries to establish the running game often, a lot, more often and more a lot. It will allow the young offensive line to get into at least the current game flow rhythm and help the Cowboys dominate in a physical game. It will also send a message to the rest of the NFL. “Look, the Cowboys can actually run the ball!”

I want to run the ball because I want to unleash these young offensive linemen on the league. The size of this offensive line is impressive and I’m hoping and anticipating they will give Cleveland fits. I’m more confident in run blocking than pass blocking until I see how Guyton responds. But let’s take pressure off Dak, control the block and let this young offensive line form an identity and dominate.

Let’s go Cowboys!!!!
Our OL is powerful but they're young, they need the experience. Might as well get it early, they're gonna need it.

I'm not sure how much success we will have running the ball but luckily we have the runner up in MVP voting that should be able to put this team on his back and will them to victory.

Losing Callahan - aka Run Game Jesus - is going to hurt that offense more than they know. I don’t know how he does it but wherever Callahan goes, they run the ball so damn good.

Every time I saw Chubb breaking off a long run, I’d think, “that’s just Callahan being Callahan”.

Those fans don’t know it yet, but they’ll figure out at some point this season that Callahan going to Tennessee is a much bigger loss than they thought. They’ll probably still run the ball okay, but it won’t be the same.

So right. There has been a drop off just about every time he leaves a team. Wish we didn't piss him off. He'll probably never come back to Dallas.

Be sure I've heard in the past a saying about young offensive lineman, that's way to acclimate them, make them feel comfortable, and break them in, is the run game, go lean on your man, go find somebody go find 2 somebodies and go smack them in the mouth!!! LOL

literally just about beating the man in front of you is not about the past protection when you have to remember things it's not about trading off players you know where you go get the guy to the left of you instead of in front of you and all these crazy protections that can come up in the past game but in the run game I thought that it's pretty simple in most schemes to have your young players succeed early by giving them confidence in the run game first so this is a perfect opportunity...

With Guyton, Smith, Beebe, Martin and Steele.
Our average sized, average at best run blocking oLine, and the worst backs in the league. POUND THE ROCK!!!!!!!!

No sir.

It's September. I saw ride Mr September (Dak) until the leaves fall off the trees, and then go to Plan B (get destroyed in the Wild Card round, and start it all over again next year!)

LT 6'7" 325
LG 6'6" 330
C - 6'4" 335
RG - 6'4" 315
RT - 6'6" 310

This is "average sized?" If so then people done got a lot bigger in the last 10 years. Hell those are "program weights" for Martin and Steele.. What they weighed when they came into the league. Both are visibly larger now than they were back then. Especially Steele who won offseason awards for all the muscle he put on between years one and two. And I guarantee you Zack aint tipped the scales at 315 since the combine!

McCarthy likes the pass game. My guess is they won't run the ball more than 20 times. They'll have 40+ pass attempts. Especially if they get behind by a TD.

Look around the league. Height wise they're prolly taller, weight wise they're average. But considering the height, they're kind of a thinner oline.

Yeah, MM said that before last season but unfortunately, the oline was weak with Biadaz, Martin with no offseason and Steele coming off serious knee surgery. I truly believe he’s going to try and establish the run game and try hard. Big question is, do they have the players to make it happen.

And if I'm Cleveland I load up to stop the run to make Dak beat me while trying to double Lamb every chance I got. Ferguson could have a big day with those optics. Would that be enough?
Hope you're right, I have Ferg in both of my fantasy leagues...lol

Good point, Pollard could have a great year.

Run the BALL and play super duper Defense someone needs to be carried big time and we all know who that is!!!
P.S. Now don't forget Cowboy players we need to jump out to a lead in the score and provide our offense at least 3 turnovers!!!
The end is near for you here. That’s a celebration of it’s own.
