Here is something to consider for tankers.

The team could make the playoffs and get blasted in a historically bad way. Perhaps so badly that it MIGHT make a dent in Jerry Jones three decade long inflexibility at general manager. Maybe make him finally think, "Hey. This might be a time for me to let someone else do this job before my time runs out."

Yeah. That is a longshot. However, wanting losses and thinking it will increase Dallas' odds in the long run, while Jones is still in charge, is likely longer odds.

if they get in, anything can happen. two times teams with less than 8 wins made the playoffs. they both won a game that postseason.

Happy for you! I'm more meh due to long term success outlook, but as East is saying JJ could mess that up anyway.

For the coaches it helps their record, I think the players are realistic and day to day. They may not even be on this team next season, yet alone worrying about a winning culture in future seasons. One thing I'll admit that is a little backwards, they were intentionally trying to lose to us (generally), but we're celebrating it. Draft slot aside, I'm not overly proud of that as a W to feel good aboutt, etc. or something to point to in the future to establish something meaningful like you're referencing for future seasons. If we beat PIT, that's the game you use, etc.
More like, they gave us a W and we didn't give it back to them in some awkward tanking hot potato.

All those years with Romo getting bad teams in the playoffs didn't teach any of you anything. When we are earning a good draft position late in the season, stop cheating yourself out of it by just scraping by to make the playoffs. Romo cheated us out of so much when we were playing bad enough to get better picks the next season. When you fight hard for mediocrity, that's all you'll get.
