The average yards per attempt are not close. The completion percentage was not close. Romo out played Brady through out the year.

Brady won the super bowl because two men made poor choices. Flacco and Pete Carroll.

Oh he only won a Super Bowl because someone else messed up? Haha...and I guess his other 3 Super Bowls were because of them cheating....I thought you said he just had a better defense than we did?
What is it about Brady that makes some people hate the man with such passion...(other than the Uggs commercials..that one is understandable).

Just admit that they were close in stats and Brady has another Super Bowl ring.

What about Romo having the 2nd ranked running game and Brady having the 18th ranked running game?
QB rating difference comes down to completion percentage which can be attributed to running game success.

In any case this is a running back thread and I am not knocking my favorite player in the league (Romo). I am simply stating that it is wrong to say Romo was so much better than Brady last year and that it wasn't close. Brady has been very successful for a very long time when he is the only real star on his offense most seasons. He doesn't have Dez, Witten, Demarco to help him. He has a group of no name running backs year after year and a group of small slot receivers like Wes Welker or whichever Wes Welker clone they find to play with him.

Romo has been 4th,5th and 6th in tds thrown the last 3 years. He's been 1st, 8th, and 10th in qbr the last 3 years. He's been 1st, 11th and 11th in qb rating the last 3 years.

Romo being an elite qb is not a new phenomenon. Nevermind he hasn't been healthy in 3 years. Not like a back is that important right?

Diminishing what Romo did last year because of the team around him and praising Brady for that same reason is the height of stupidity. Brady has consistently been on a superior team than Romo for the last decade straight. The. Height. Of. Stupidity.

Thank you. Football is a team sport. The Patriots defense won the last Super Bowl.

well, they all did but we completely agree, it's a team sport unless people want to pick on a player for xyz reason i've grown apathetic to.

If you look at Randle, McFadden, Dunbar, Williams and now Tate, the only thing I can figure is they're looking for a larger, bruising type back. Maybe someone to take the wear and tear off of the starters in the 4th when we have the lead or in goal line situations or as a blocker on passing downs. (If he were to make the team)

Creating competition in each group has been a hot topic this off-season and this certainly adds to that so before everyone starts knocking the move let's see what he's got. If nothing else he'll push our other RBs to work harder.

No thanks. He failed at Cle and Pitt last year.

Sadly, he has a better recent history than McFadden. Tate had an awful year last year, but the previous year averaged 4.3 YPC on 181 carries for Houston. He also averaged 5.4 and 4.3 his first two years with the Texans (albeit in a backup role).

I don't dismiss him for that reason. If we can bring in McFadden, who averaged less than 3.5 YPC each of his past three years, I don't know if we can say Tate wouldn't end up being the better player.

Now, I think there are better players out there for us to consider, but I'd be OK with Dallas bringing in Tate for look-see rather than doing nothing at all. He's still young and like with McFadden (with everyone blaming Oakland's line for his three years of failure) there may be circumstances that led to him suddenly falling off last year after three good years. He's more proven than any of the backs we are currently carrying.

At this point they might as well just deal a draft pick to get a B tier running back.

Everyone sit back, chill, and have a cold one to relieve the anxiety.
The Cowboys are just kicking the tires and looking under every crack and cranny for
any and all talent that could be acquired cheaply and easily. The Cowboys are
in the talent acquisition business just as Stephen said recently.

Now take it easy cause it's still a long time to training camp guys.

I hope you have your apology ready

I would like it to be more heartfelt than the bin apology you gave after we signed Hardy

One thing for sure all the talk of RB is not a concern for the Cowboys is non sense, bringing in vet RB tells me they are still looking. I also would not be surprised if Dallas is talking with other teams at this stage.

I don't know if Dallas will sign any of the RBs it is working out right now. I think the team is just trying to do its due diligence to be prepared to sign one if our current group falters.

Reading comprehension isn't your strength obviously.
Didn't say Romo wasn't an elite QB or didn't say it was new. That's you attempting to put words in my mouth to give you some weak ammo to make you feel that your rant is somehow more valid.

What does Romo having back surgery a few years ago have anything at all to do with this? You see you don't have the ability to comprehend that this isn't about Romo but simply a response another poster made that said Romo was better than Brady last year and that it wasn't even close...

You went off rambling and stumbling with some stats about QB rating over some past seasons....what are you even talking about?

I'm trying to response to your response but your response just went in directions that were not even what was being discussed. I guess you wanted it to go a different way so you threw out some weird stuff to attempt to make it go that way....good luck with that.

Did you say something about the height of stupidity?

I'll close with this....Its wrong to say Romo was so much better than Brady last season and that it isn't even close....it is close..

Now carry on with another weird reply where you try to put more words in my mouth to allow you to go off with some stats that are not relevant to the conversation.

THANK YOU STEPHEN, WILLIE, JERRY....

This is all I wanted. Continuous improvement should always be at the core of our strategy. This solidifies many of the things that have been said already and attacked...

The Cowboys are going to continue to look at FA RBS that are capable of replacing the void left by Demarco.

Perhaps many of us can now take a more civil approach to examining our current RB situation. This isn't "media hype". This is action. Let that sink in for awhile.

That all said, no thanks on the Ben Tater.
