Running Back Issue Solved

Don't they have a pretty good RB from the Eagles already on the team? Guy was good when I watched him and paired with Pollard makes a very good backfield
Are you suggesting Cory Clements as a good RB?

Yes, he played pretty well when I saw him on the field. The Cowboys have far more pressing needs and problems than RB imho. And I'm not suggesting he'll replace Zeke, I'm just suggesting they not draft a RB over the other needs this year

They will not draft a guy who would compete for snaps. If they take a Rb, he's likely a later round pick maybe a special teamer guy who can do returns but lets be real they barely give Pollard 3 carries a game. That isn't changing while they pay zeke a hefty amount of money.

And let's not forget our Hard Knocks star.....JaQuan Hardy and his eye glasses saga. LOL

Our next RB is in the 2023 draft.

Success in the Cowboys system?

You mean we need a RB who will look very promising and give us hope for a few weeks before suffering that season ending injury....because that is basically the Cowboys system over the past several seasons.

Davontae Booker cut by the Giants is an interesting player . Upgrade over Corey Clement change of pace but Moore seems to get locked into Zeke with Pollard getting a handful of carries. Why not spread carries around keep fresh legs in the game .

I've got more concerns than RB right now. Zeke and Pollard are our RBs for 2022. I'm more worried about WR if we cut Cooper with Gallup and Wilson being free agents, TE if we lose Schultz to free agency and Jarwin is done via his reported injury for 2022, OLine - LG and possibly C need addressed, LBer with the eventual departure of LVE, DE if Gregory leaves via free agency and especially if they part ways with DLaw, and would love to have another CB opposite of Diggs. Too many other positions to worry about for me to be stressing about addressing the RB situation for 2023 in 2022.

We should be trying to extend Pollard to a team friendly contract this year so we can cut Zeke next year and draft a RB in the 3rd or 4th round of the 2023 draft. No more first round picks used on RBs or huge contracts given to RBs.
Not to mention the Defense if we ever want to play in another super bowl.

Well, if Kellen Moore would go back to a good running game, then okay. But, if he continues to abandon the run game, it won't matter what RB is drafted.
That’s right. You could put Saquon Barkley and Barry Sanders back there, and if you’re running that same scheme behind Williams and Badasz, you ain’t doing diddly!

Running back is a sneaky need in the draft. Zeke or no Zeke in 2023, remember Tony Pollard is also in his walk year and another team is bound to view him as a number one back.

Not sneaky now, 2021 draft sneaky, but not sneaky now.
The Cowboys are not sneaky.

I advocated taking him early in the draft on the draft forum the “ experts “ on the board shot it down …
If we re-sign our guys and don’t have many holes, I’m definitely ok with spending a 3rd on him

2022 is supposed to be strong middle rounds RB draft. We should hedge our bet for 2023.

Absolutely.

We should always have talent with fresh legs anyways at that position.

We should never have to do what we did last season.

Drafting a position you'll need to fill a year later is a smart strategy with most positions. Gives the player a year of pro training and assimilation before they need to be on the field, and avoids the desperation mode that results in draft reaches.
But given that the pro RB position seems easier to learn, and that the sound strategy for running backs seems to be draft 'em--use 'em up in their first contract--repeat, putting draft capital towards a guy who won't be meaningfully playing for a full quarter of the time you expect to be paying him doesn't that smart to me.

With all the Zeke issues, would it not force the organization to make a tough decision next season. What I'm saying is, if we drafted a running back who had success in our scheme in 2022. I think this would make the ultimate decision to part ways with Zeke a lot easier.

Pollard may possibly leave, so we'd need another running back, please give me your thoughts on this thought. I hope we draft a running back, and not plan on going the cowboy way to get an undrafted running back ..
It's hard for me to believe that people STILL swear it's all zeke's faults. I'm trying really hard to be polite here. It's just baffling...

Look...we know he'll never be 2016 ever again. Wow big surprise one fo the best years EVER, especially for a rookie....he has to meet and beat that every year to measure up?

No. He's still a very good running back and critical to our offense. We need to beat Moore to a pulp until he implements an NFL NFC East power run game....as 2016.

The rb issue should have been try to get Pollard signed to a decent deal, but I think he's gone after this year, so we'll have to burn a 3rd or 4th rounder on another rb.

with zeke here, Jerry's infatuation with Zeke and how Pollard played last year, any RB would get minimal touches, very minimal touches, so drafting a RB this year won't show us a thing, we can just wait until next year.
