Yes Ladies and Gentlemen this is why you don't draft a RB with the 4th pick and then give in to them by paying them a record breaking second contract.

Our free agent RB's have looked very good for cheap this preseason.

Meanwhile how's that contract for Zeke looking now?

Not saying the backups are as good as Zeke, but when you compare their contracts to their abilities

I would take the rookies.

You could take the salary difference and shore up other areas of the team.

The Cowboy's situation at RB really shores up the notion that you don't draft RB's early and or give them

enormous second contracts.

Key word in your post, which is preseason.

I know these are older examples, but they still ring true, in that Hambrick looked good along with Wiley, during preseason.
Then when it came for them to play against the big boys during the regular season Hambrick got tackled a few times by grass.

We see a handful of examples look good in preseason only to never see them ever again, even though they stood out vs 2nd and 3rd stringers.

I do agree with your point in that drafting RB's high and paying them top dollar seems foolish in this day and age. Maybe if Zeke had the catching threat of a CMC or Kamara to go along with his durability that would be something.
Seems like a position to churn and burn every few years in the draft. Day 2 or 3 draft one, run them, repeat.

Does elliot have a bad contract, yes.

Is it as bad as Christian mccaffrey,no

Is Elliot still an elite rb, questionable

Can Elliot still get hard yard and make a big difference, 100%

Bottom line is zekes time with the team is winding down and they will get as much out of him this year as possible...he overpaid but the hard yards are also underappreciated

Good point about this being preseason.
It would be interesting to see how they performed with the first unit offense.

Not saying you are wrong. However, I think after 2018 season Dallas thought they were close to a championship. Dallas had a playoff appearance in 2017 & 2018. Signing Zeke was Jerry just going all in. However, in 2019 the wheels fell off the bus.

This lady agree's with you 110% Johnny.

Pollard Season Salary: $796,945
Elliotts Season Salary: $12,400,000

When Pollard entered the league in 2019, he was already a known commodity as a pass catcher who could also run the ball. It would make a lot of sense for Dallas to use him consistently as a receiver given the question marks at the wide receiver position currently. Pollard is better & more useful as the back for the buck!

That's why they grabbed Cooper in 2018. To take Dallas over the top. He was a special one too.

It's preseason. Are these young guns going to be able to protect Dak like Zeke can? I am not a Zeke fanboy. I just feel this thread is a bit premature. We need to see what they do during real games going against the real guys. I am ready to move on from Zeke but I don't know if these young guys can replace him this year. At least not the first 6 games.

Bijan Robinson

I think Zeke is overpaid as i do Dak. I also think his talent level is undervalued by some and overinflated by others but to judge what the current stable of 3rd stringers have done against back ups as a measuring stick for Zeke moving forward is foolhearted.
I do agree taking him at 4 was the dumbest thing this organization has done in awhile then zeke had them by the cajones so they doubled down on stupidty

I’m not ready to give up on zeke yet. Still averaging 4.2 yards a carry just behind Henry who averaged 4.3. Also he had his second longest run in his career last season as well. Toddler is just not giving Zeke enough of carries. But let First Take and Undisputed tell some of you guys different.

why do these nonsensical posts pup up who cares that's so 2019 dude he has a GUARNTEED $$$ deal this season not going anywhere its MOOT and tired subject and post..

sorry man, the constant whining over contracts and where and how we picked player back to 16 is out of control..

BTW all these FA are not running a schemed offense against schemed defense, this is PS dude get passed the zeke trolling already. Oh BTW if zeke were running against 2s , 3s,and 4s on defense he would be destroying them..wake up remember the circumstances

hes here and no amount of whining will change that..

right 4.2 on hurt back, torn knee, and an OL who couldn't stop holding or whiffing on blocks.

I will always wonder if they drafted Ramsey instead of Zeke would they have drafted King Henry in the second round. The Cowboys needed a running back.
