Running Back Resurgence

I wouldn't pay WRs either...

Well then you are not planning on keeping players. Myself I don't mind a top player making big money as long as he continues to play like a top player. I am not in favor of extending contract too soon, I want a long body of evidence before I would be willing to pay out a big contract. Lawrence being the most recent example, what he did last year was great but before I payout I want to see him continue to play at a top level. JMO

WRs and RBs are highly replaceable. I'd much rather pay linemen and defensive backs even linebackers before I pay them.

Yes they are high priced but I see a big difference with an Elliott as opposed to Morris. I don't think top RB or top WR are a dime a dozen I think great ones make the difference and make the job of the OL much easier

Yep. No more Marion Barbers, please.

Will be interesting to see if BO can run. We maybe drafting a RB higher than the 7th round this year. We may want to find someone else that can run well.

Elliot seems to be the complete package. But we haven’t payed up the big dollars in a while for a RB. Passed up on murray.

Zekes a smart strategic runner cant teach or coach that... thats Instincts and feel, that Melanin kickin in lol

What in the world does melanin have to do with Zeke's rushing abilities? Curious to hear this one...

I think that RBs are valued more highly again while they are very young,, so not a full resurgence.
If teams are smart, that'll never happen again--where they are awarding large, 4 year deals to RBs in their very late 20s.
A few teams get burned on big money to 30 yr old rb’s and they learn
Pay them when they are young, make sure by late 20’s you have an out
It’s a position for the young and most go down hill fast

Those guys tend to perform later in their careers
RB especially does not
And I personally think there are few really elite WR’s who are worth big contracts
3 good ones beats one really good one

It wasn't long ago the the Cowboys were ridiculed for selecting Zeke with the 4th pick....now after seeing the importance of a strong dominating run game.....now look at all the little duckies following suit.

You can't play a player 15 million per year when his chances of playing 16 games a year are very small. Not to mention the percentage of downs he will play with plays off. Not with if you plan on paying all of these linemen.... You have to go back to the draft.

he didnt miss a game in college

Everything plus ... the stuff you cant teach either you have it or you dont... thats as simple as i can make it...

You dont see the game the way he does, you cant hit the hole or see the hole, or set up the linebacker to run away form the hole stratigic running..... when he get through the hole and and then instantly jump cut to the right maintains speed, hurdle a guy while in mid air, comes down still runs through another tackle to get more yards, should i keep going.

aint nobody else at rb doing what he's doing hell nobody in the league is doing what hes doing at rb already add blocking to that to.

so for us Melaninated people has alot to do with our instincts my guy errbody aint got it homie..

thats just scratching the surface the info above

Seahawk leaned on Lynch to get their SB. Regardless I think a strong running game is a major help to an offense.

Lol. Then when all they had to do was hand the ball of to lynch and take home the trophy they tried to throw it. Lmao. It reminded me of something JG would do. O yeah they did. Against the seahags. On the goal line and throws it 3 times in a row.

True but they also won a SB. I agree big mistake not using Lynch on their 2nd SB when they had Lynch

That is one position I would never do a 2nd contract on and would only tag it if the crop was thin at RB. Because there are too many good ones and too much invested in this OL and it's not complete yet.

That along with WR's are the most often injured positions and having 13-15M in a RB is foolish. I think Gurley is a top 3 back and better than Elliott and I would not give him that kind of money. And now what do the Rams have? The best player on the team and best DT in the game sitting out. Good luck using a RB to wreck the opposition's backfield.

It is simple economics, a team cannot pay everyone. Get too many superstars eating up too much of the cap and that team is going nowhere. Get too much imbalance between O and D with the cap and that team is going nowhere especially if that's on the O side.

Do we think the best mind in the game would give a RB that much of his cap? The two SB teams last season, what are they paying their RB's?

They've got two more seasons with Elliott, then they can replace him with fresher legs but I would be pulling a Murray on him and run him into the ground, that's what they're for, just ask Earl.

Maybe that's where Garrett and Linehan got the idea. lol
