Running back

I am all for cutting Zeke, TBH.
Funny when Pollard hits the hole it just looks different, and Zeke gets the ball and is happy with a couple of yards gained. I have no problem drafting a RB on day 3.

Yeah Zeke is almost at the point where I say he's a progress stopper. I'd definitely would love to have a back that can catch.

I really like Najee Harris (Alabama) and if he somehow slipped to our early 3rd round pick, I'd have to seriously consider him.

I like Journey Brown (Penn State) a lot, but he's a pretty similar player to Tony Pollard.

I also don't think Jerry would be willing to move on from Zeke at this point, nor do I think we can reasonably get out of his contract yet.

Zeke contract is still to big for Dallas just to let him go. I think after this next year you can look at it and trade him or let him go. I agree that Dallas needs to see what they have with their reserve RB. No reason why they can't try to let them play some football instead of saving them til next year. If anything I would play Zeke and if we are winning take him out and if we are losing take him out. I would really like to see the RB play some snaps.

Big fan of Harris too.

According to sportrac 2023 is the year we have a potential “out” from Zeke’s contract.

I could get on board if depending on what the dead money looked like. He gives you practically nothing in terms of explosive plays any more. Trading him might be easier but I'm not sure what team would want to take on his contract with his current production.

Pollard is average, at best. Some of the Zeke critiques are fair, but Pollard goes down on first contact every single run. Against the Steelers, on his long runs, he wasn't touched until he got to the third level. If that was Zeke, the comment would be "he should've scored."

Harris would be good. RB is weird this year to me. After Etienne, there's like 8 guys who could go in any order, but I think a bunch of them are a lot like Pollard.

If they move on from Zeke, I'd prefer to go the UFA route and just kill the 20 carries per game role. Drake, Carson, Lindsay, and Gurley would all be good for that in some respect. Conner should be considerably cheaper than Zeke, but allow the offense to function the same.

I agree. Zeke hasn’t been great this year (fumbles/dropped passes) but he is getting his carries on obvious running downs. How many times has he been hit in the backfield facing 9 man fronts? Don’t get me wrong it sucks to have that contract on the books but Zeke/running backs in general are the least of your problems.

Lol, smh.

Zeke is not even getting to the second level, dude lost all his burst and plays lethargic. I would use Pollard as a Alvin Kamara type role, and go get a bigger back that doesn’t cost me 15 million a year to play the Latavius Murray role.

No running back this year

Zeke, Pollard and Rico Dowdle can handle the work load and that pick should be invested on the defensive side of the ball.

You can't use Pollard as Kamara because he can't make anyone miss.

I would be more than happy to see the Cowboys sign Dak to franchise tag, trade him for what you can get in draft picks this year or next year and once that tag money is off the books cut the dead weight of Zeke and Smith and go into the following year of 2022 with a ton of money and Field only 1 year into his contract. If Amari plays like he has then he can go the following year and save us money in 2022 as well, or if anything June 1st cut Zeke and Smith.

Might suck again next year, but you'd have a ton of flexibility in the cap to make big changes in 2022 and let these guys who aren't deserving of their pay go.
