Very intersting.

Witten cannot get beaten that badly. Most of the other issues will fix themselves. I think we get it going Sunday night. We are right there. Just a little off.

If Zeke gets just the one big run where Witten blew his block the running game stats look much different.

You have to assume the Bears are coming after Zeke with the fumbles and the run blocking problems we are having.

And I doubt they intend to stand back and let DAK act like a ringmaster at the circus.

This game is going to be a lot closer than we all think.

Sunday Night national game...

the Bears are not going to roll over.

60 minutes of football and lots of FGs.

Dan Bailey better be ready.

Just no onside kicks......:muttley:

Agree though, as I have said this several times, it will be much closer than most anticipate. And that does not mean we are necessarily as bad as what the Bears appear to be.
It's life in the NFL.

So the big problem is that our TEs are struggling, right?

Seems to me that we should force defenses into smaller personnel packages with 4 wide sets.

Dez and Beas in the slot with Butler and TWill on the outside.

Spread the DBs out, force whatever linebackers are out there to respect the underneath passing game, and let the best OL in the league go head up on their DL.

Yes. The running game needs to get going! I really thought it would explode against the Commanders. Hopefully, it will get going against the Bears at home. Its a game tne Cowboys should win. Elliott seems a little off to me...maybe not the best TC or preseason needs more time to get in game shape. I don't know.

Zeke will get it going.
He may be tentative on some runs because of the fumbles. But not so much he won't lose much yards from it. Say normally he would lower his shoulder, get a few extra yards. but now maybe he just takes the yards he gets, after a first down, and pulls a Murray and goes down. We seen many good RB's do this. But after a few of successful times of that. He will get back to his normal game.
I don't know id that will be how it is, but just my thinking for now. We will see after his first few runs.

You can go through every team's running plays and find similar stuff. Generally, the D wins the majority of the plays. If they didn't, you'd see back with 300 yard games.

We aren't running great because teams are far more worried about stopping the run. Also, Dak isn't changing plays like Tony does (which is reasonable since he's a rookie). Romo sees eight men in the box and it's "kill kill kill." Dak hands off and has his guy run into the teeth of the front. We get teams backing off and the run game will go wild

I love Witten to death, my favorite player, but his blocking was really bad on several plays last week.

This team does miss Hanna's blocking.

No TE in the league wins them all. Article is all about cherry picked plays

The running game is/will be fine. The first two teams we have played have been focusing on the run game trying to get Dak to throw the game away. As soon as he completes some long passes, and I mean through the air not short pass and run, it will loosen up these defenses and the run game will explode.

Agreed, but some of Wittens missed last week looked like effort misses and that is not him, almost makes me wonder if he is not 100%.

It isnt just witten, it is bad blocking schemes, that have witten going in motion and then he is supposed to block a big DL !!
I saw that in the giants game, and then another where the new LB they had just grabbed witten and tossed him aside.

What we do is have our ol not block their DL, but go downfield to block others, but then the guys they dont block make the tackle
at the line or in backfield.
Then also rb's are tackled from the backside by a guy who is unblocked.

I think the better way is block all the guys on the line, create cracks or holes, and it is up to the rb to get past the lb's

I agree we should definitely run out of passing formations more. When Witten is in the game it forces him to block someone who's just better than him and since he's close to the run play that player can have an effect on the play. Run four wide and it takes a big body defender out of the game which is a plus for us.

There have been plenty more. They need to figure out how to use Jason on a more situational basis, he's been really bad in obvious run formations. A great and precise route runner forever.

I know we aren't going to change our blocking schemes, but on some of those pictures, it seems we'd be much more successful letting the guard trap Witten's man while Witten tries to get in the LBs way rather than asking Witten to win at the line of scrimmage with the guard pulling up through the hole to the second level.
