Running Game Woes

I agree we should definitely run out of passing formations more. When Witten is in the game it forces him to block someone who's just better than him and since he's close to the run play that player can have an effect on the play. Run four wide and it takes a big body defender out of the game which is a plus for us.

Right. The Cowboys coaching staff has always viewed it as a mismatch, and rightfully so. Witten blocks well and he's a dangerous receiving threat (also we've always had a second TE that could block really well too).

Witt just isn't getting it done this year.

I understand the benefit of the doubt though. Not going to dog the coaches for giving 82 a chance to rectify his mistakes.

But if Witt doesn't improve and they don't alter the plan accordingly, I'll be one unhappy camper.

So the big problem is that our TEs are struggling, right?

Seems to me that we should force defenses into smaller personnel packages with 4 wide sets.

Dez and Beas in the slot with Butler and TWill on the outside.

Spread the DBs out, force whatever linebackers are out there to respect the underneath passing game, and let the best OL in the league go head up on their DL.
Witten plays very near 100% of the snaps every year. Sadly, it's probably past time to limit his snaps.

Tony Romo should retire
Dez Bryant is now hackeem nicks
Jason Witten is a part time player.

can't wait to see what is in store after this game.
Most receivers (WRs and TEs) don't play 100% of the snaps. It's odd that old man Witten normally plays a higher percentage of the snaps than Dez. They will give Dez a break but not Witten. It does not really make sense.

Witten's blocking has been clearly bad this year as noted. Hope they get that squared away. EE will get his sea legs under him soon.

I'd like to see more 21 full back sets that both pass and run. Dallas is a little predicable with their formation tells as always. I still think Calhan is missed with this OL run blocking although I do appreciate that Lineham will stick with the run game.

Nice. I think Linehan has a propensity to throw the ball more...but l too hope he decides to run it at least 50% of the play calls. We shall see.

Dallas has the best group of backs since Thomas, Hill, and Garrison. Hope this is the breakout game for our RB's

He's always had value in the run game and probably doesn't get as much credit for his third down option route that still somehow works at the ripe old age of 53.

But now, I think his value is more intangible.

He's probably still a great leader, but he's starting to be a hindrance out there... Moreso than just in the vertical passing game.

You have to assume the Bears are coming after Zeke with the fumbles and the run blocking problems we are having.

And I doubt they intend to stand back and let DAK act like a ringmaster at the circus.

This game is going to be a lot closer than we all think.

Sunday Night national game...

the Bears are not going to roll over.

60 minutes of football and lots of FGs.

Dan Bailey better be ready.

Of course you assume that. No one is going to lay down for us. That being said Zeke is not a chronic fumbler, at least he wasnt in college and hopefully last week was an outlier. If ever a game we had a chance to blow open its this one. I think we win and have control most of the game. We are due to watch a game without nearly stroking out. This is it, enjoy.

This is sarcasm right? Surely you're joking. Haha you had me for a second.

I miss when you used to post good

Not really. It makes perfect sense.

Dez is a #1 WR, Witten is a football player.

It's the NFL. Majority of the games are close and are decided in the final minutes. You are a fool if you go into any team thinking it will be an easy win. Especially this team.

We had a 3rd and 16 vs Washington and the first thing I thought of is why the heck is Witten on the field. No way is he getting 17 yards down field before Dak is sacked. Just didn't make any sense.
