RUSH R40 tour

[
Did Geddy have to hack the melody on Priests again because he can't do it live anymore? Wasn't a fan of the compromises he had to make on that song on their last tour. I saw them twice the last time around. Debating whether or not to cough up the $250 to see them again for the anniversary tour.

Not sure what you mean by hack?
He couldn't hit the high notes but for his age his voice is in very good shape.

That whole song is a high note, though. And it needs to be because the shrillness of the verses in that song really drives the song.

In the shows I saw, he didn't just drop it down, he changed the melody to accommodate the fact that he couldn't reliably shriek it out the way he used to. It turned the song from one of my favorites to something they probably should have just left out of the set.

At least in Tulsa the melody was the same but he couldn't hit the high notes. If you caught VH playing the Billboard awards last night you could see a prime example of a singer whos voice is shot, by comparison Geddys is in much better shape.

I caught the Austin show too - The Camera Eye was a highlight for me! Actually loved all of the longer songs we got, including Jacob's Ladder, Xanadu & of course 2112. The first set with the newer material was good (and the video during Roll The Bones is cool), but people went bonkers during the second set & encore.

Also it was my first time at the Austin360 Amphitheater, out at the Formula 1 Racetrack. Very nice venue!

Agreed... it's vary nice venue...

I would commit suicide if I had to go see a Rush show. Gag me with a spoon! :omg:

IMO, there has never been a more talented rock trio. glad they weren't in too big of a 'rush' and decided to stick around for awhile. a very good long while. kudos to geddy, alex, and neil. as good as it gets.

Just went to the show here in Buffalo on Wed. I had 5th row from the stage which is the closest I've ever been for any of their shows. They were on their 2nd show off a week break. I felt Geddy sounded great and fresh. The movies at the beginning of each act were great and the second one really funny.

Just so good see these guys again and here some stuff I hadn't heard in a while. Camera Eye, Cygnus X-1, Between the Wheels, Jacobs Ladder, Xanadu...all had some power behind it. I had to laugh...couple guys next to me and my buddy left their seats as Subdivisions came up...who does that? Morons.

Regardless, it was a great show, I enjoyed myself and these guys still bring it. Rush is the only concert I go to anymore. I know they may not tour as much anymore after this one but I figure if anything they'll do shows in Toronto at least from time to time and I'm only a stones throw away from there so I may be in luck.

Hope anyone else who has gone or will be going enjoys themselves.
