lol, are you guys seriously taking this as a postitive on Ogletree?

Whether he'll be good or not, Roy saying he's going to be a good one but then not knowing his name and saying that he picks up his shoes and that's all he knows about him?

Maybe it's tough love, but it's not really a ringing endoresement.

Thank you. I can't believe these people acting like it's no big deal he doesn't know his name.

I think he was saying it on purpose - he's a rookie, he's picks up his shoes after practice, so he's "#85" until he proves he can be called Kevin or "Tree" or whatever nickname they give him in the locker room.

Hopefully it motivates him. And if he turns out to be a good one, I'll eat my crow sauteed on a bed of wild rice pilaf.

How big of a deal is it? Ogletree will either make the team or not based off what the coaches see.

He was kidding, or not giving credit to the guy on purpose, or temporarily blanked on the name. I've heard other interviews where RW numbered all the temporary WRs, so I think it's something he does to rookies.
Exactly.

That, or he's just not very coachable when it comes to remembering names.

It's a big deal regarding those two's relationship as teammates. Not in any way related to his chances of making the team. Rememer when hurd was UDFA and TO took him under his wing? Pretty sure TO knew his teammates names. I hope Roy was just kidding

RW remembered 85 was "Tree" when the reporter reminded him. Just a momentary lapse. And he was kidding that his knowledge of 85 only extended to being his porter. ... just to clarify ...

BTW, RW is wearing a soft padded splint deal on his wrist and plans to practice today unless the trainers call him off ...

I assume he was but not going to sit here and make a big deal out of this. This right now this is small potatoes and I'm not going to treat it any more than that.

Quick, somebody break out the smelling salts! Please explain why this is a big deal, and spare us the hyperbole please. Or are you just taking over dc's spot as resident drama queen?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

I don't care how you spin it, that is ridiculous.

He's #85 'til he does something. Like Parcells removing the stars from the helmets. Prolly did it just to hack on him.

He knows his name.....................

Thank you. Right now, he does not exist.

Obviously, he never played a team sport of any kind. I can remember my crab (Freshman) year that we had to sit on the floor and we could not speak in meetings. In addition, all the coaches called you by your number instead of your name unless you were an upperclassman. You think Mr. Olgletree is picking up shoes because he is such a nice guy? This is all rookie hazing and the criticism of RW not knowing his name is laughable at best; especially he is obviously feigning the point.

Maybe I was naive to believe he really didn't know his name.

But if he truly didn't know his name, it would be a big deal to me because it speaks to the cohesiveness of the position group.

Why get "cohesive" with a player that's UDFA and may not make the team?

Dude, they've been together, everyday, for how long now? Since OTA's.

Knowing a player's name, is the bare minimum!!!! Obviously I was stupid and believed it for some reason, but had he not really known it that would in fact be pathetic.

Semi-lengthy thread arguing about whether or not Roy Williams should have known another receiver's name?

Yep. We are Cowboyszone. :)

Oh geez. This is such a non-issue. I've had people that work with me in the small company (There are only about 15 of us) whose names I didn't learn, or remember, for quite a while after they started. At the time there was some high turnover rate and I just didn't bother to learn much about people here until they were actually going to stick around for more than 10 minutes.

There are people I went to high school with for 4 years that I know who they are but if they came up to me right now I wouldn't remember their names, and they were in classes with me all day every day for 4 years.

Both of those situations are 100% different than what is being talked about.

It's been established that obviously he does know Ogletree's name.

I noticed you didn't use a personal football experience. Would you know the rest of the position players of your team, after spending all summer, and two a days with them?

Business world, and Geography class are nowhere near what a football team is.

Good try old chap.
