Ryan Tannehill extended - 6yrs/96million

The Dolphins are in a spot where the limited talent of QB's (proven at the NFL level) is demanding that they lock him up and pay him at a decent rate.
He's not bad by any means. I don't think he is great, but he doesn't suck. Now they can put that in the rearview and move on to other needs.

Anyone know what Russell Wilson's current contract is.
He has won a super bowl and played in two and I bet he is one of the least payed QBs in the league.

He is in the final year of his rookie contract and will count just under $1.7 million against the salary cap. Most of that in base salary.

It makes sense in that they locked him up before Luck and Wilson receive their new bloated contracts.

He's not near Luck, talent wise, but if they would of waited till the end of next year they would of had to crack the 3 digit mark to re-sign him.

Thinking it over, it's a fair deal to the Dolphins, as long as Tannehill doesn't regress.

Not for long. He was just still on his rookie deal. That helped Seattle in the short term for sure.
He wants way more than what Tannehill got, that's for sure.

He's been decent the last couple years. Maybe slightly better than average. But not sure he deserves a big pay day like this.

seems to me they are willing to settle for someone a step up from the Dilfer/Johnson level. Frankly I would put him slightly above Alex Smith.

When I feel bad about the cowboys lack of success, I remember the dolphins exist.

Going on year 15 without a playoff win. Like we were in 2009.

They really don't have many options. Taneyhill can play and finding someone even as good as him can take years.

QBs get paid in this League.

I feel the same way living down the road from Arrowhead and the Chiefs. Over 20 years and counting now.

If he can sustain his level of play from last year, I think it's a fair deal. If he can improve on it, it's a good deal.

They'll have to pay him $100 bucks? Damn. He needs a new agent.

Pretty sad when Jay Fiedler is the best, by far, since Marino retired. That's when the HC had to deal with the "Dan Thing" and move on . . .

Tannehill is pretty good. He started to play exceptional for a good stretch at one point, but then his LT got injured and Mike Wallace catches roughly 1 out of every 3 passes that hits him in the numbers. He also had the mess with the Incognito/Martin situation which caused them to have to completely revamp their O-Line on short notice.

Yea, I think this year will be a good indicator of where he is.

A lot of the Dolphins fans here are geeked because they think Dan Marino working with him will help him climb to that top echelon.
