LAWRENCEVILLE — Former University of Georgia and NFL quarterback Quincy Carter was arrested again last week — this time in Gwinnett County, on a battery warrant from earlier this month.
According to a police report, officers responded to the Lawrenceville home of Carter’s girlfriend in the wee hours of Oct. 5. She told police that Carter came home at about 1 a.m. “drunk again.”
When she reportedly told Carter she wanted to end their relationship because she “had enough of him being drunk all the time,” things turned violent, the girlfriend said.
“He put both of his hands around her neck and started choking her,” the report from Gwinnett County Police says. “He also punched her in the mouth and in the face area several times.”
The officer noted several bruises and cuts on the alleged victim’s face and arms.
A warrant was taken out for Carter — who played quarterback at Georgia from 1998-2000 and then with the Dallas Cowboys before stints in the Canadian and arena leagues — that night.
Carter was subsequently pulled over in Duluth on Oct. 15 after an officer reported noticing an expired tag. The 33-year-old Carter did not have a valid driver’s license either.
“(Carter) stated he currently did not have a driver’s license because his driver’s license expired in 2004,” the officer wrote.
Carter, who has been arrested on a series of drug and alcohol-related charges in recent years, was released on $6,596 bond.

once again, another brilliant draft pick from our pathetic GM, Jerry Jones.... a player everyone had as atleast a sixth round pick, but Jerry thought he knew better than anyone else, and that QC was worth a second round pick.....

wow...that is sad. Hopefully he can get help and get his life going in the right direction....I remember watching him as a sophmore(I believe) at Georgia and he was just amazing. I was a fan of his when we drafted him because he had all the talent in the world and I thought we could turn him into something special...what a waste of talent..he could have been a great player.

I wish him all the luck in the world with the rest of his life.

This guy spiraled out of control :(

Too bad. Hopefully he can rehab himself and get himself on track, but it's looking bleak.

It was his own doing. He had the best gig in all of sports: starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys. How do you screw that up?

I'd take either of them over him as a backup. He has become an embarrassment. They at least were character guys.

Character takes more than staying out of trouble.

I'll take half of either Hutch or Henson and still have more character than a full dose of Quincy Carter. I know something about him that won't be reported and it is as bad as hitting a woman. Let him take a swing at me. I'll avenge her.

I just can't hate on the guy. Even though he is an embarrasement to this franchise.

Last year as a strater he went 10-6 and gave us some nice moments. Remember that 26 yard pass to AB with like 6 secs lesft to set up a tying FG. That was as great a clutch pass as I've ever seen.

And after that nice season, he was kind enough to get himself kicked off the team for drug use. Just imagine if we had to endour a mediocre 8-8 or worse year finding out he'd never be the guy. Maybe end up losing Romo in the process.
