upbringing does matter but in the end its all on the individual to go down the right path. Now I know some are brought up so badly they never found out what was right or wrong, but that is a relative few to the many that had good parents, home, etc and still ended up as scum.

From all accounts he only does MJ; but of course how many of you claim MJ is completely harmless? He is a weak person and they will fall sooner or later.
He uses more than grass.

Drugs!!!! :bang2: I wish all of the people that think recreational drugs don't harm anyone could understand the cost that they put on our society. If American's didn't have a drug appetite, it wouldn't be so easy to get them and there would be far less violence trying to get them across our boarders!

Sorry but I hate watching our youth get hooked and turn into 33 year old men like QC is today. All based on the desire to escape reality for a bit of time.

I don't know if you're talking about weed, but I know a ton of people who smoke weed and don't ever do any other drug or be abusive the way Carter is. Same with cocaine, I know plenty of users that don't act like that.

Basically, if that's the way he is, it isn't because of drugs. He was destined to be a bum long before drugs played a part for him personally.

Well I doubt he only smokes weed...pretty sure he's been in trouble for cocaine.

But overall you're right. Weed is harmless. If someone does dumb stuff it isn't because of weed, it's because they're dumb to begin with.

It would be easier for him to turn it around, if he could see a future for himself. Football is over, what else could he do with his life?
He could start by acting like a man. Is he incapable of a job? Does his son deserve none of his time?

I wouldn't call it harmless. It certainly makes people lazy, and there is more than anough laziness to go around in our society.

It makes some people lazy. But I know a lot of people, myself included, who get plenty done after smoking.

Every time I read one of the many stories about Carter, it reminds me how right I was five years ago. I never saw anything from this guy. Average arm, fairly inaccurate, an athlete who never really could run, not very bright, underminding (Arizona game)..the list goes on.

Some people on here were dead set on Carter as a franchise QB (I won't mention any names but one huge Carterite already posted twice in this thread). I'm no scout, but I hit this one on the head.

Oh well, back to reallity and we still suck.

Your assessment is about as accurate as QCs passes. Would hardly call it 'hitting this one on the head'

1. He wasn't 'fairly inaccurate', his accuracy was nowhere good enough to be an NFL QB. His accuracy was poor.
2. No doubt he struggled to read defenses. But 'bright' is arguable, although he does seem really dumb in many ways...like hitting women. He does well on standardized tests like the wunderlic, and most people who know him (like Parcells) call him 'bright' .... but clearly he has a really dumb side as well. Can't read defenses. Seems to have some deep rooted mental issues as well.
3. His pocket presence was very good. Also very quick with good escabality. But he wasn't near the runner many make him out to be.
4. Arm strength was probably above average, but release was a little below average.

In a detached kind of way, I feel sorry for the guy. I've known one bipolar individual in my life, and the dude was unpredictable and miserable (and miserable to be around, too).

I sure as hell won't excuse beating a woman or his continued drug use, and it still amazes me that someone can blow through a few million dollars the way he did, but if he is indeed bipolar, then some of these things can be explained and maybe looked at less harshly (or, at least with some pity).

That said, I was never a fan of his. He was a terrible quarterback and how some people continue to defend his performance in Dallas boggles the mind. The day he was cut, even though it started the Vinny era, was a great day.

Well, he apparently has a drinking problem also. Alcohol is one of the worst addictions that one can have because it is so readily accessible and its effects vary person to person.

If he wants to drink and do drugs, don't bring other people into it and make them suffer the repercussions. He should just sit in a locked room and knock himself out.

If it was just the MJ, he wouldn't be doing this likely. Also, a lot of these cases are exaggerated and it's really just a he said she said thing. But with the physical evidence it's really not going to bode well for his case.

On the other hand, alcohol, imo, is your worst enemy. I was an alcoholic from the age of 13-27. Now I've recovered with the exception of a few relapses around my daughter's death.

But yea, even a guy like him, who probably still has some money... as much as we dog on him, he should get his life on track so he can put the money he has to use and make a decent life for himself.

I hate that he did this. I just hope he and her can find solace in it all when it's over.

QC is bipolar?

If so, that likely explains a lot. Doesn't excuse him from anything but it should make some reevaluate some of the attacks thrown in his direction.

I seem to remember The Q himself swearing he wasn't bipolar.

He has denied it, but that's not terribly surprising. All I know is that he's received treatment for it and if that's what's going on, then I can temper my reactions a bit.

if you are bipolar then anything like MJ or alcohol is really really STUPID.

I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter. I have 2 kids, a boy and a girl (twins) that mean the world to me. I can't imagine losing one of them, and what you've been through.

I too had a drinking problem for about 4 years, but I made sure not to put my family in harm's way. I would actually drink myself to sleep each night after everyone was in bed, and would wake up with a terrible hangover.

These days, I hardly drink at all. I might have a glass of wine at a special dinner. I took up weightlifting to fill the void, and got my health back in order. I've been working out 6 to 7 days a week since the last 2 and a half years.

In QC's case, he simply needs to man up and fill the void in his life with something productive (as if being QB for the Cowboys wasn't it). He has a kid, so perhaps he could spend time with his son? That would be a good first step. Perhaps he can be a motivational speaker for kids (his lisp aside). Or perhaps he can coach new NFL players on how to handle their newfound success.

I've heard that he is essentially broke, but there is more to life than money. Perhaps he can turn things around and help others that may be heading in the same direction.

x-UGA QB Quincy Carter arrested after allegedly beating up girlfriend

By Christian Boone

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former UGA and NFL quarterback Quincy Carter, whose football career was sidetracked by bouts with drugs and alcohol, now faces battery charges stemming from an alleged violent altercation with a 35-year-old woman at her Lawrenceville apartment.

Gwinnett County Police Department Quincy Carter was arrested and charged with three driving violations and the outstanding battery charge.

The woman, who identified herself as Carter's girlfriend, told Gwinnett County Police the 33-year-old Decatur native repeatedly punched and choked her after she told him she was sick of him "being drunk all the time," according to the incident report, dated Oct. 6.
"He put both of his hands around her neck and started choking her," the report states. "He also punched her in the mouth and in face area several times. Before Quincy left, he punched her in the right eye."
The officer observed a scratch on the victim's neck, along with bruises and cuts on her arms and lips. A warrant was issued for Carter's arrest.
Nine days later, Carter was stopped on Duluth Highway and Atkinson Road for driving with an expired tag. After questioning Carter the patrolman discovered that his license had been suspended. The former Dallas Cowboy told the officer his license expired six years earlier.
He was arrested and charged with three driving violations and the outstanding battery charge. Carter, now living in Ellenwood, was released later that day from the Gwinnett County Detention Center, police records reveal.
The two-sport star first rose to prominence in 1995 when he led the Southwest DeKalb High School football Panthers to the AAAA State Championship. Carter signed a letter of intent to play at Georgia Tech in 1996 but ended up signing with the Chicago Cubs instead after being drafted 52nd overall in the MLB amateur draft.
Carter struggled with the bat, however, and in 1998 he enrolled at the University of Georgia, winning the starting quarterback job as a freshman. He declared himself eligible for the NFL draft after his junior season and was selected in the second round by the Cowboys.
After leading Dallas to the playoffs in 2003, Carter was released in 2004 for failing a drug test and attitude problems, according to the team. He started three games for the New York Jets in 2004 but more problems with drugs led to his release the following season.
Since then Carter has bounced around the Canadian and Arena football leagues and has been in and out of trouble with the law. He was cut by the Abilene Ruff Riders of the fledgling Indoor Football League in 2009 after a pair of arrests -- for DWI and failing to pay his bondsman.
Carter was also accused of making terroristic threats in May after a Duluth woman told Gwinnett police he threatened to kill her. Police spokesman Brian Kelly told the AJC late Friday night he did not know if charges were ever filed in that incident.
