IRVING – Eagles coach Chip Kelly doesn’t believe the Cowboys offense will “change drastically” with Kyle Orton at quarterback instead of Tony Romo.
“They’re going to run the ball with DeMarco (Murray) and they’re going to throw the ball to Dez (Bryant) and (Jason) Witten and the rest of the guys, and you got a guy in Orton who’s played a lot of football games in this league,” Kelly said in a conference call with the Dallas media Thursday.
“It’s not like he’s an inexperienced guy,” Kelly said of Orton. “I don’t see their offense changing drastically from what Tony ran.
Orton is expected to start his first game with Dallas after Romo emerged from the win over Washington last week with a back injury.
Kelly also doesn’t expect his team to suffer from overconfidence with Romo out. The winner of the game will advance to the playoffs at NFC East champion. The loser stays home.
The Cowboys beat the Eagles 17-3 in the season’s first meeting between the teams in October.
“We have to go play a football game so our whole concern is what the scheme they’re running, where they’re getting the ball,” Kelly said. “This team beat us pretty handily the last time we played them so I don’t think there’s any guys on our team that’s thinking about a letdown especially with what the stakes are.”
