Yep. Heath was going to put Peterson flat on his back until the other Cowboy came in and hit him from behind, but even then Peterson was going down. Then the other Viking player grabbed Peterson, got him back upright and then they both pushed together into the end zone.

Well, great. One tackle on Adrian Peterson (plenty of players have tackled him before) and this proves what about Heath? That one chance in 100 he can make a textbook tackle?

I don't hate the guy. I don't like disparaging players because they're human beings. But unless he makes monumental strides this training camp, I just don't think Jeff Heath is a starting caliber safety in the NFL, or even a spell or backup. Like I said earlier in this thread, Special Teams gunner.

It proves absolutely nothing except that Peterson didn't run him over, which was the contention of some people in this thread, and the only reason it was brought up to begin with.

It also proves that Heath was in a one-on-one situation with the best RB in football and had nobody else helped either Heath or Peterson, Heath would have taken Peterson on, picked him up, and put him flat on his back.

I'm not a fan of Heath any more than I am any Cowboy. He isn't one of my pet cats, and I'm not going to spend much time arguing with anyone about him. However, if we are being honest here, anyone who watches that video posted earlier in this thread can see that Heath was going to win that matchup if nobody else comes in the picture.

I find all this laughable. JJ Wilcox a player who was drafted from a 1AA school at the time who played safety for one year prior to being drafted, is good enough and the position hinges on him. But Heath who came from Div 2 school is junk. Both came into the league in the same year Heath is probably little more polished as a safety since he has played it more than a year kept Wilcox on the bench. Do I think Heath got abused of course he did, but so did the rest of the secondary all of which have a "better" pedigree than he does. He has not done anything differently than the other guys we have trotted out there in his position the last 4-5 years, Sensy, Hamlin, Williams, Mike Hamlin, Pat Watkins, Alan Ball, Sendejo, McCray, Elam, Church, Poole, and allen. The kid is not a top tier NFL starting safety, but there is a role for him he does need to polish his technique but every bad play he gave up he was in position which is a lot better than some of the aforementioned which would be so out of position you had to wonder if they even heard the defensive play call in the huddle. The kid deserves a shot considering how unsettled the position is.

He's making a career out of it. .

I don't think for much longer. In the meantime Cowboys have brought in guys like Wilcox with a 3rd rd pick last year so they are not standing still because of Johnson.

You need to realize he was not ready to start. He got thrown into the fire against the leagues best.

Going from an undrafted rookie to having to play against Calvin Johnson, A.P, Drew Brees, etc

Of course he looked horrible when he wasn't ready.

I've really got no dog in this fight but I hate that people act like AP Destroyed Heath.

Just reading your description of Heath, makes me want to play some good attention to him in Training Camp. I know that most of the media and fan evaluations on him will usually bend to personal bias or an agenda.

Jeff Heath was one of those guys who should never have been put in when he was in and will probably forever be a guy the fans will loathe (fairly or not).

The guy was not ready and it showed...but now will be a goat by most of the fan base.

Heath understood the system, he just isnt good enough to start. Would be a nice guy for special teams and a few plays here and there. He was one of the biggest reasons why Carr looked worse then what he was last yr. Heath was always near where he was supposed to be but not good enough to get there or make the play. If Johnson can stay healthy and can play ST. I see heath being released. He did admirable last yr, but he is what he is.

I've been pulling for Heath since he blasted kirk cousins and then refused to help him up...

Yes, I hate how some fans' dislike of a player makes them exaggerate what happened to make it look worse. Heath had lifted Peterson off the ground and was heading to the ground with him when the other Vikings player essentially caught him and put him back on his feet. It was a good job by Heath in squaring up and handling the powerful back until help arrived for Peterson and Heath stood no chance.

Yep. If nobody else came along and it was just Peterson and Heath, then Peterson ends up flat on his back and people are talking about how an undrafted rookie put a future hall of famer on his back.

It is a shame for Heath because it would have gotten him some positive notoriety.

Like I've said already... I'm not particularly a Heath fan, but my eyes and common sense tells me that the rookie was going to win that go-round.

How did Heath start over Allen? Or someone else on waivers? He seemed like a total bottom of the barrel UDFA. I never got that.
