Safety prospects, has anyone been looking?

Don't sleep on Stephen Hodge from TCU either. 81 tckls, 10 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 INT, 2 FF this year. At 6'0" 230lbs he's got excellent size. Came in to college as dual threat QB that ran a 4.4 40 before moving to S. He's a sideline to sideline player that loves to make big plays. He is more suited to SS, but could be good at either spot in my opinion. Would look nice in the 4th round.

Patrick Chung 5'11 210 4.4 _ hits like a LB, covers like a CB _ versatile enough to play either safety spot, smart enough to captain the D, hard working productive playmaker

Should be a 2nd rounder, may drop lower due to his height and deep safety class (many w/size & "upside").

I can't believe we're already talking draft. Nah, we're quitting doing this and you know what? We're not quitting and we're going into Philly and busting some ***. Witten is on his last legs this season and coming to play. There's a reason. Texas football will be played and we know how good Texas football is. I'm leaving it at that. Plan for a celebration.

It's already that time of the year man, the National Championship game is almost here.

Give up some picks in 2010. The window doesn't stay open for long in the NFL.

That was the Commanders philosophy too, hasn't worked well for them.

I would rather not trade that many draft picks.

I've got a real sleeper for your consideration, a small OLB who I think could be the next Darren Woodson-- Jonathan Casillas, from Wisconsin... he's 6-1, 225 pounds, about the same size as Woodson, and runs the 40 in the 4.45 second range, with a reported best of 4.4 seconds... again, that's Woodson-esque speed...

NFL Draft Countdown lists Casillas as their 57th best player, NFL Draft Scout lists him as their 74th best player, so keeping in mind that these ratings don't include underclassmen who might declare for the draft, he's almost certain to still be on the board when the Boys pick in the 2nd round, and he might even still be on the board when they're up in the 3rd round... Eliminating the top safety prospects, who will be gone before the Boys draft, some other safeties that might merit a look include FS Derek Pegues from Mississippi State (2nd round), FS Rashad Johnson from Alabama (3rd round), FS Sherrod Martin from Troy (4th round), SS Michael Hamlin from Clemson (2nd round), SS Chip Vaughn from Wake Forest (3rd round), SS Otis Wiley from Michigan State (4th round), SS Myron Rolle from Florida State (5th round)...

My round projections take into consideration that the Boys will likely be drafting rather late in each round...

I don't have Ellison or Nic Harris on my list, for one reason-- I have doubts that either has the foot speed to succeed at safety in the NFL... either one might be a good candidate to bulk up and play OLB at the next level, IMO...

I like Casillas too, but no way as the Cowboys first pick (in the 2nd round), he will be available in the 4th or even after. Casillas has too many things going against him going into the draft (size & injury concerns) and while Casillas has blazing speed, he is better attacking the LOS than in coverage so his conversion to SS is not a slam dunk (similar to Wesley Woodyard of last year's draft, who ends up staying at LB w/the Broncos).
