I like David Bruton from Notre Dame, he's got size and range and he will hit you, yes he can cover too.
I heard on the radio yesterday that Tennesse has a good one, Eric Barry I think that is the name they said. Has anyone seen him play/
I also would love to get Maluaga the LB from USC.

Eric Berry is a true
sophomore, and I hope we don't get a shot at him cause it means we're drafting in the top 5

Rashad Johnson, William Moore, C.J. Spillman, Otis Wiley, Nic Harris, and the kid from Wake Forest have shown some skills.

Rashad Johnson is tops IMO.

I've got a real sleeper for your consideration, a small OLB who I think could be the next Darren Woodson-- Jonathan Casillas, from Wisconsin... he's 6-1, 225 pounds, about the same size as Woodson, and runs the 40 in the 4.45 second range, with a reported best of 4.4 seconds... again, that's Woodson-esque speed...

NFL Draft Countdown lists Casillas as their 57th best player, NFL Draft Scout lists him as their 74th best player, so keeping in mind that these ratings don't include underclassmen who might declare for the draft, he's almost certain to still be on the board when the Boys pick in the 2nd round, and he might even still be on the board when they're up in the 3rd round...

Eliminating the top safety prospects, who will be gone before the Boys draft, some other safeties that might merit a look include FS Derek Pegues from Mississippi State (2nd round), FS Rashad Johnson from Alabama (3rd round), FS Sherrod Martin from Troy (4th round), SS Michael Hamlin from Clemson (2nd round), SS Chip Vaughn from Wake Forest (3rd round), SS Otis Wiley from Michigan State (4th round), SS Myron Rolle from Florida State (5th round)...

My round projections take into consideration that the Boys will likely be drafting rather late in each round...

I don't have Ellison or Nic Harris on my list, for one reason-- I have doubts that either has the foot speed to succeed at safety in the NFL... either one might be a good candidate to bulk up and play OLB at the next level, IMO...

I'm a USC guy and actually a friend of mine is really close to him but I'm not sure. He has really bulked up and his 40 time is a little slow. He may end up playing linebacker like his brother, Keith.

Despite all that, he is a very good football player. He calls the defense for USC and he makes plays. He just reminds me of another big, slow strong safety that some of us might be familiar with.

Nah, the other kid from USC.

Taylor Mays.

He's a JR, but he may come out and he's way better.

Bigger at 6'3, 230lbs and faster at 4.42 in the 40.

Here's notes on him from NFLdraftscout.com...

12/17/08 - 2008 AP ALL-AMERICA FIRST TEAM: Taylor Mays, junior, 6-3, 230, Southern California, has been selected AP All-American First Team for the 2008 college football season as voted on by The Associated Press. - Southern California football

12/12/08 - Unlike most underclassmen who pretend to focus only on college, Mays admitted he frequently imagines playing in the NFL next season. "Yeah, I think about that," Mays said. "It might get to me but I need to stay focused. If I let it get to my head, it could mess me up and be a negative. But I'm a positive person." He even talks about the chance he played his last game at the Coliseum two weeks ago against Notre Dame. "If that was my last game, it was special," he said. But maybe Mays is only guilty of being a realist. He is 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds and for the past two years, ran the fastest time at USC when timed in the 40-yard dash. He is expected to blow NFL teams away with his physical skills when he chooses to perform tests for them. About the only negative on Mays is he might scare teams because of his freakish combination of size and athleticism. "Guys will be concerned about his size and if he can make plays at that size," Carroll said. "I think the average safety is 210 pounds. Will he be able to tackle a fast, nifty receiver or running back?" The less-discussed knock on Mays is that he did not make a lot of plays at USC, but that was often attributed to his role in Carroll's defense, which required him to play more like a center fielder and prevent deep passes. "How many times have teams gone deep on us?" Carroll said. "He's done exactly what we wanted. There's a lot that goes on in his position that you don't see that he deserves credit for. "If you think about the last two seasons or the last three seasons, how many times somebody's taken the ball, thrown it over our heads down the middle of the field, you can't remember because it hasn't happened." - Scott Wolf, The Daily Breeze

12/12/08 - 2008 WALTER CAMP FOOTBALL FOUNDATION FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: DB Taylor Mays, USC Jr., has been selected First Team Walter Camp All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation for the 2008 college football season. - Walter Camp Football Foundation

12/09/08 - 2008 ALL-PACIFIC-10 CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: DB Taylor Mays, Jr., USC, has been selected All-Pacific 10 Conference football First Team for the 2008 college football season as voted on by the league head coaches. - USC football

12/08/08 - The USC Trojans have become accustomed to losing plenty of underclassmen to the NFL draft year in and year out, although this year may not feature as many juniors ready for the next level. One of those juniors sending shockwaves throughout NFL draft-boards is junior free safety Taylor Mays, who will apply for an early evaluation from the NFL. The junior defensive back said he will follow the advice of USC head coach Pete Carroll, whether he is informed to stay for a senior year or dart for the NFL draft. Carroll will sit down and talk with Taylor’s father, Stafford Mays this week to discuss what ultimately might be best for his son. “I’ve planned to meet with his (Taylor Mays) dad,” said Carroll of Mays’ pro possibilities. “We’re old friends, and we’ll make sure we talk through everything. We’ll get more information on all of our guys. “I told all of ours guys that are considering the thought of it (the NFL) at all to go ahead and apply to the NFL for their evaluations and use that as information.” This process might seem out of the ordinary to many USC fans, although proven by example, Carroll believes that the information retained from the NFL is nothing but helpful. Last year Carroll informed linebackers Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing to return for their senior season to improve their stock, a decision that will most likely pay big dividends for the seniors. One player declaring early last year, Chilo Rachal, failed to receive an early evaluation from the NFL, something Carroll still harped on. “I was disappointed last year that Chilo (Rachal) didn’t do that,” commented Carroll on the current San Francisco 49er. “We talked about it and he decided not to, and opted out of it.” - Brian Matthews, WeAreSC

I think he's coming out and we have to go get him if so because he will be gone early.

Taylor is a freak. He's huge and supposedly has run 4.2 40's. If that is anywhere close to the truth he will be the guy everyone falls in love with at the combine. I can't see him lasting past pick 15.

Give up some picks in 2010. The window doesn't stay open for long in the NFL.

If Rolle is there with our 2nd, we better nab him and not look back.

the guy I want from USC, and who we have a reasonable chance of drafting is Brian Cushing

ran a 4.59 in the spring, and had a 37 1/2" vertical jump, add .10 to his 40, and he's a 4.7 guy at most at 6'3" 255lbs.

but above all else is experienced and produced at USC

he also put 35 reps up on the bench-press

Cushing has started at SS, DE, and all 3 linebacker spots while at USC. He was also the Rosebowl MVP as a sophomore. He could definitely come in and play OLB or ILB for us. Unfortunately, he will go in the 1st round.
