McCalister was great in that game. Sometimes you watch a player will his team toward a victory. McCalister was getting 1 or 2 extra yards every time after he was hit, dragging tacklers forward. He should get a game ball.

Brees was also very good. Bush did a few things here and there but nothing too special. Brees played smart football and Mccalister carried that team yesterday.

All true, but Joe Horn was a Beast!

brees is very good at moving around and making plays. if we had brees on the bench i bet we would bench bledsoe. by the way we don't have brees setting on our bench

Then what do we have. A clip board carrier. Then shame on the organization for not getting this team a future QB. If this is a QB driven league and this team has not won a playoff game in what 8 to 9 years.

Why spend all the money on FAs and young core players when we don't have a QB of the future on the team. Because if you think a immobile QB at the tail end of his great career is the answer, I just don't see it. 15 years in the league and 35 yrs old does not make an organization build around him. He gives us the best chance to win, but this team needs to be built for the long haul not BP's short stint with the team.

The fans are being held hostage by a coach who thinks he can win with any QB since he has won with Simms, Hosteller, Lucas, and Testaverde.

At least he drafted a young Bledsoe for NE, a young Simms for Giants, and a young Pennigton for the jets. What young QB has he drafted or signed from FA.

So excuse the way fans want their coach to at least give them a sign that a plan for the future is in place. That his ego to win without his previous coaching staff is not his motives. Just look at the Commanders and all the money on coaches, FAs, and the young offensive weapons mean nothing without a good young QB.

It seemed that Gibbs and BP were not willing to go with the growing pains of a young QB.

On Comcast Philly last nite, they said Sean Payton record against Jim Johnson's defense's is 10-6. They said Payton does a good job of moving his QB's around and his play calling controls the Tempo of the game.

The 1st TD was placed perfect in front of the DB and past the short LB. Almost the same route that Glenn ran on the int for TD. Brees waited for Horn to clear the short LB.

The 2nd TD was like 3 moves he made that took around 4 or 5 seconds. Brees rolled to the right scambling stopped and threw a good pass to a wide open Horn.

Parcells didnt draft Simms and he had been in the league several years when Parcells got there.

If TO had caught the dropped passes, you'd be saying the same thing about Bledsoe.

No, Brees is comfortable in the pocket, bledsoe does not look confident under pressure.

I guess Peyton left that in the Dallas playbook :lmao2:. We really screwed up letting Peyton get away. He is a good young coach. This franchise could really use a good young coach and a good young QB.

...touched the ball (18) times in that game for a total of 89 all purpose yards. Deuce touched the ball (18) times also for 100 yards.

What is different is that Deuce carried a YPC average, but it diddn't meant that the Eagles weren't aware of where Bush was at all times.

To me, Brees was the difference. He got the ball out earlier and he bought time in the pocket with his mobility. He kept the Eagles Defence off balance unlike our statue.

The Eagles didnt blitz the Saints nearly as much as they did the Cowboys. I think they only had 1 blitz the entire first half and probably not much more than that in the second half ( I dont remember many ).

Compare that to like 20 total blitzes the Eagles used against the Cowboys. A big difference there.

Their legs were still dead from last week. Not only all the blitzes but the celebrating afterwards.

I didnt realize that Bush had that many touches. He does make the defense change up. But if you saw the game McCalsiter was coming through in key situations and doing some real tough running through a lot of bodies.

Brees was Mr joe cool all day. Brees is one of the top qb's in the league IMO. You cant stop the pass rush all day, there are going to be times when the qb is going to have to deal with a blitzer coming free off the line, thats what defensive coaches scheme to accomplish, and no matter how good you block, your going to get that, and at those times the qb is going to have to make something happen.

Bledsoe feels the rush and curls up into a near fetal position (at least he protects the ball), but good qb's sense where the blitz is coming from and when the rush is on they have an opportunity to make a play.

There was a play yesterday, 2 guys came around the left end of the line, the inside one was picked up as it should have been. The other one had such a far run to get to bledsoe, but as he is coming around the end, bledsoe is still drifting back and staring downfield.....UNAWARE.....bledsoe realizes the pressure only as the defender grabs him or is within inches of grabbing him and tries to get away but doesnt.

Other QB's drop back and are able to see the rush, bledsoe drops back and seems to just stare in one direction, if you rush from his blind side he never knows your coming.

I chalk it up to good film study and recognition by Brees, knowing where to go on hotroutes, etc.. and the second factor involved here is emotion and intensity of Philly.. this was a road game coming of a big win compared to a home game against their most hated divisional opponent and two teams that know each other very well.

Also, I remember seeing these same receivers open against Dallas, but half the time the receivers were not looking for the ball and still facing downfield causing an extra second of hold time for Bledsoe.. and well.. we know he can't sidestep and reload quickly... or step up.. or roll out.. or.. well.. you know.. do anything but stand there and stare downfield waiting for a route to open up...

And Payton stretched the Eagles out. Philly didn't bring many blitzes as a result.

...with the QB on my son's peewee football team and I have spent the better part of this month teaching him to side step, step up or shift and reset his feet.

All with the goal of hoping he could settle his happy feet when a heavy rush comes on.

I see Drew Bledsoe all day in our football league. Little kids panicking in front of a rush and running, throwing off the wrong foot, throwing up prayers, into coverage, wounded ducks, getting hit in the arm, you name I see it every Wednesday night and Sunday.

We have a rookie QB and he has difficulty if the area in front of him is not clean on a pass. We did the obvious, we rolled him out with protection.

From that rollout he has plays that allow him to reverse handoff, pitch, pass, throw a screen and run a keeper.

The one formation with QB rollout results in (5) different variations and they are relatively simple, but don't allow the defence to key on one play. I don't know why the Cowboys don't do something to move the pocket for Bledsoe. Unless he has no mobility.

It just showed the Saints last drive on NFL Network. The Eagles blitzed 1 time and on that blitz they attacked where the blitzer came from ( left side ) with a partial slant and got a completion out of it. They also ran 2 QB rollouts and pretty much every pass was in the middle of the field.

Edit : Just to clear this up. I meant that the Eagles blitzed 1 time on the Saints last drive that lasted 8 and a half minutes.

You can't give all the credit to Brees' mobility. Don't you think he would have been sacked once or twice in Philly last week? Bottom line: he moves better than Bled, but they also protect him better.

Thats pretty much it. From what I saw of the game the Eagles defensive line wasnt getting hardly any pressure.
