Twitter: Saints Eagles Trade draft picks

Sounds like a nice trade for the Eagles.
The Saints did ok by getting the extra 1st round for this year. Eagles spread out their haul over 2 years.

I wonder if it is to preserve cap space for this year, as opposed to paying 3 1st round picks. Then having all those contracts come up for big money at the same time.

IMO, QB class is deeper next year. You use your resources elsewhere and fill needs

If Hurts bombs, you still have two first to go get Young or Stroud.

They essentially lose a guy like Linerbaum to have a chance at an elite QB

smart move

get a 1st round pick in a draft with real qbs

a 1st round pick from a team with jameis winston and no sean payton

I like the trade for the Eagles. Push a mid first now for a future first and second. Gives them extra ammo if the next star QB hits the market.

Not sure I understand what the Saints want another first. They feel like a team in transition without a star Qb. Unless they are targeting one of this years QBs which most think are not franchise changing. I think keeping your firsts would have been smart considering they have a new coach and not sure if they have their Qb.

They were -70 million over the cap.

I imagine two first, allows you freedom to rid yourself of 1 maybe 2 bad contracts. They will be up against it again next season as they are already NEGATIVE 23 million

Great trade for the Eagles. The Saints are going to stink on ice this year, the Eagles will have a great shot at a top QB next year, and it spreads out their assets. Plus the 3rd this year and the 2nd in two years? Wow.

Only reason to do this in advance....

Saints must like a QB that they feel they have to get into the top 10 for.

The two mid firsts ought to get that done.

This is somewhat shocking, Eagles are basically deferring to 2023 by letting go of one of the firsts this year, and the Saints are gaining one, presumably to trade up or just straight draft a QB. Too bad the QBs including Pickett and Willis are not even close 1st round worthy.

It is in essence a fair trade, the Eagles are, adjusted in future to this year's round they are giving a slightly below mid first for a second and (edit)a third and fourth.

Now the Eagles could strike gold with that first round that it is really really high like top 5 but odds are it is like 14-18th pick, so adjust that is like a second this year.

I like the idea of positioning themselves next year and betting against the Saints basically. With no real QB at the helm there, could very well be a top ten pick.

Great trade for the Eagles. Setting themselves up for the future.

Meanwhile our front office is frozen in their awe of what a great job they do all of the time.

Trading back out of the first round completely should be something we are interested in. Did it under Bill and we got 2 cornerstones and control of the draft board to some degree the following year
