Salary cap expected to jump to 155 million in 2016

Every year the cap rises it makes the people who call us irresponsible for pushing money into future years look more and more foolish. Anything we pushed forward becomes a proportionally smaller amount each year. If we just played it straight we would make less effective use of the cap money.

Only if you pay the right guys.

The problem is, we didn't pay the right guys and we're paying too much money for players who were no longer here.

I wouldnt mind saving some of the increase as rollover to pay the O Line down the road. Like to see them stay together as long as possible.

Well get me a right tackle soon and then lock em down...for years to come.

Well, no doubt, this team can use all the cap relief it can get and the extra millions will help. But, let's face it -- the other 32 teams will surely benefit as well. Let's just use it wisely.

When did they start to move away from it? Most of the big contracts we write have a 2nd year that is designed to be restructured. Sometimes even a third.

Just my guess but I'd say sometime before they started saying as much in interviews.

I don't get too excited about this, because this just means everybody has more to spend, so the overall prices just go up.

Yes, but what it means is that guys who are currently under contract become a smaller percentage of the overall team cap.

Which means that guys like Brandon Carr, who everyone loves to be preoccupied with, become "market value" instead of "overpaid" thanks to the cap change.

Win win for everyone.

Also, the continuity in the Dallas secondary is strengthened due to veteran and in system cornerbacks, if one also throws in Morris Claiborne.
