Salary Cap?

For those of you who think the salary cap doesn't matter, Parsons would be a Cowboy if it didn't.

I don’t see much sense in watching the cap like a scoreboard.

We are in the middle of a season. The team you see is the team you have.

Come March, if they need space to sign a player it can be done by restructuring, unless they choose to publicly claim cap poverty as an excuse to not sign anyone of significance. Go ahead and bet the kids college fund on the latter.

I’d say all anyone needs to know is that this team is not in a bad situation cap wise, and Stephen will never spend more than he has to in order to try to win.

They very well could sign Clowney tomorrow.

I think they're waiting to see how well the back end plays without Bland they could very well not get Clowney and probably go get Gilmore or somebody like him I think they're gonna wait and see what the big need is..

By the way I wouldn't sign another player outside of Aubrey until they all show up and prove they deserve the money sam I don't know why they even mentioned him this month about being next on the list or Next up and George Pickens after last week I need to seize the full season before I decide on him...

The only money I would spend if I'm Jerry if he wanted to do one more deal is aubrey I mean how much could a kicker really cost why is that not done yet? I would assign Aubrey before Hunter or Ferguson....
Ferguson just got extended.

They could probably sign Sam cheap now. But the thing is, can he be easily replaced?

I'm thinking the kicker wants 10M a year. Maybe that's the hold up.

Really where did you hear that i've never heard a kicker asking for 10 million a year? He's one of the top kickers for sure but don't discount what we just watched in Philadelphia got kicked a 58 yarder he's still one of the better kickers and in pre-season didn't we see one of the young kickers kick a 70 yarder it's not a true record but it still counts So wherever that top 5 money is I'm sure the Cowboys are willing to pay it but it can't be 10 million..

What is it with some of these Dallas Cowboy players asking for like twice what the actual market is? It is it what it is but I'd like to see some actual data that he asked for even anywhere close to that...

It's just speculation that I've been hearing. There are 8 kickers in the league making between 5-7M a year right now. What do you think Aubry's agent will be asking for? If it's not 10m per, it won't be far from it.

You don't sign Pickens. He's exactly the kind of guy that will lay down on you once he gets the money.

He was already laying down last week.
I get it, not sure I trust Sam Williams either.

You are probably right, but I won't close the door on either. Ill see what they do this year and AS ALWAYS it will depend on the cost moving forward.

In Pickens defense hes had trash qbs and offenses. That has to be disheartening.

Agreed. But Sam isn't a top market value player. You pay him like you would pay a WR2. Otherwise this is his last season here.
To this point he hasn't even earned that imo.

I believe hes probably worth it, but we are going strictly on projections with him, which is why you can justify a smaller contract.

I'm sorry but you have this Parsons agent syndrome like he should be paid 4 million or double what the number one guy is Like I said there's some damn good kickers in this league and he may be the best that's debatable because some still see Jake Elliott as being able to do the same thing.. So no if 6.4 million is the highest then why can't you take 7.5 or eight, I mean what's the problem here I mean why does it always have to be uh oh the Dallas Cowboys player wants double and then Jerry gets fried for not handing it to him like it's free money...

I get he's important and he's been consistent but he's not a $10 million kicker unless another kicker gets nine before him I don't see it...

Here's a breakdown of the top five:

  1. Harrison Butker: (Kansas City Chiefs): $6.4 million
  2. Jake Elliott: (Philadelphia Eagles): $6 million
  3. Matt Gay: (Indianapolis Colts): $5.625 million
  4. Cameron Dicker: (Los Angeles Chargers): $5.501 million
  5. Graham Gano: (New York Giants): $5.5 million

Look like 39 mil this year and 17 mil next year before we carry any over if I’m reading it right
That was just an initial estimate. Give it the day for the details to come out

You opinion
Everybody's opinion who objectively watched the game. He's getting trashed in DFW this week for that.

His effort is incredibly inconsistent, which is why the Steelers gave up on him.

I would totally wait until the season ends with Pickens.

He’s already flashing red flags.
Dallas is very cautious when it comes to agreeing to big money contracts.

It's the main reason they don't dip their toes in the deep end of the free agency swimming pool every off-season.

The Cowboys want to know these players and prefer having had them in their building at least 3-4 years.

George Pickens is new to the team and came with some questions attached.

I'm not expecting any contract movement during the season.

Dallas Kicker and DE Sam Williams (hasn't done it on the field yet but coaches/front office love him) are most likely the next two in line.

Typically I’m someone who doesn’t care about the cap beside Jerry and company are so colossally inept at managing the cap and contracts that it’s pointless to pay attention to something that is a difficult topic for fans but also one they barely understand themselves.

What I do get annoyed about is how people just listened to that old goat rambling on about the massive amount of extra money he has now to spend.

So, when we constantly hear “47 million” from fans, I think it’s reasonable to fact check that and show that the reality is that over the next four years, Micah’s cap impact is under 100m.

That 100m will be spent before we know it but three years from now, people will be saying “we wouldn’t be able to resign Eze if we didn’t cut Micah loose.

Hell just today I’ve seen a half dozen regulars say that we wouldnt be able to sign Smith if we had kept Micah which is absolute nonsense.
