Salary Cap?

To this point he hasn't even earned that imo.

I believe hes probably worth it, but we are going strictly on projections with him, which is why you can justify a smaller contract.
You're absolutely right. He's probably not worth it if you can replace him with a rookie. But in the unlikely event he plays really well this year.......

IMO, probably let him go next year.

I'm sorry but you have this Parsons agent syndrome like he should be paid 4 million or double what the number one guy is Like I said there's some damn good kickers in this league and he may be the best that's debatable because some still see Jake Elliott as being able to do the same thing.. So no if 6.4 million is the highest then why can't you take 7.5 or eight, I mean what's the problem here I mean why does it always have to be uh oh the Dallas Cowboys player wants double and then Jerry gets fried for not handing it to him like it's free money...

I get he's important and he's been consistent but he's not a $10 million kicker unless another kicker gets nine before him I don't see it...

Here's a breakdown of the top five:

  1. Harrison Butker: (Kansas City Chiefs): $6.4 million
  2. Jake Elliott: (Philadelphia Eagles): $6 million
  3. Matt Gay: (Indianapolis Colts): $5.625 million
  4. Cameron Dicker: (Los Angeles Chargers): $5.501 million
  5. Graham Gano: (New York Giants): $5.5 million
I get it. What you seem to think is reasonable sounds good. But if Aubry's agent says 10M, take it or leave it, because we believe another team will pay it, what do you do? You pay him the 10M.

You opinion
did you happen to see the half dozen or so plays in the one video from last week where he actively avoided blocking his man? I mean, swerving around his assignment and letting the guy just run the ball carrier over and over.

I’ve been a big supporter of Pickens but I have to say that what I saw there was really disappointing.

Oh please. They have had 7 months to get it done.
Facts as stated, they've been doing a lot, so they're in negotiations that's all we need to know.... He's truly asking for 10 million that I'd say that is a big hold up negotiations need to be had you don't hand guys blank checks..

Seeing that in here you guys really think that's how it works you just throw a guy a blank piece of paper say write in what you want terms clauses right whatever you want put in whatever amount of money you want and then it just ends there we'll just pay it...lmao

It's just speculation that I've been hearing. There are 8 kickers in the league making between 5-7M a year right now. What do you think Aubry's agent will be asking for? If it's not 10m per, it won't be far from it.
He’s going to be a restricted free agent. The Cowboys will only have to match the highest offer he gets. Jerry is not going to spend more than he has to.

We go again believing another team would pay a kicker 10 million well show me if they really think that that could happen I know it'd be crazy you franchise tag him then what top five average money he want to play hardball and then what would a team give to get Aubrey from us in the end I think as good as this guy is you're overrating him...

Parsons was a much bigger loss if something happens with Aubrey I realize kickers are important but I think we're being a little silly here.if 7.5/8 not enough, well  . Please tell me he doesn't have Parsons agent..lol

That was just an initial estimate. Give it the day for the details to come out
Well next years cap is an estimate but generally fairly close. That includes smith extension. Biggest chsnge was moving Micah’s contract. The extensions aren’t expensive initially

Aubrey is the next guy to get a deal imo, probably before the season ends.

Pickens and Sam are the two guys that will potentially require the biggest payday next offseason. But I don’t see them signed before the offseason.

Donovan Wilson is a free agent as well, but he’ll need to play really well to stick here imo. He hasn’t really lived up to his last contract.

The other guys that might get expensive are some of the guys we signed to one year deals this season. Guys like Elam, Fowler and Javontae might require big deals if they end up having big seasons.
Elam aint nothin special. Give him a basic deal.

Javontae is a RB, do not overpay.

Fowler probably won’t be impactful to the point of meriting a big payday.

i would not give elam and fowler a dollar right now those two have been awful so far the first two games.

The thing about Aubrey is that his range changes the way defenses have to play against the Cowboys. He's a fantastic weapon that should be signed soon.

Trade him for 2 first rounders and a DT. :muttley:

Obviously this year the cap isn't even an issue. Going forward, we have plenty of cap space. Enough to sign a defensive player of the year type player if we want.

As soon as we restructure Dak next year the cap space skyrockets and we don't even need to restructure him because doing so with CeeDee and Osa will free up a ton of space as well

edit: Remember to add the $39M in rollover space from this year if you are looking at OTC. See Spotrac
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/_/year/2026
So if I understand it right rolling over 39 million from this year would mean we would be 6 million under the cap next year? Am I correct?

Where did you get that info from?
I didn't say that that was me responding to somebody saying they read somewhere that's what he might be asking....

I mean he said it on TVI believe I'm the best kicker in football so we may have a new Parsons to deal with here thinking maybe he is worth 10 million and who knows maybe the Cowboys believe he is after last night who knows...

I mean if they give him $1 million more than the top paid kicker isn't that saying he's the top guy I mean that's a lot for a kicker give him 7.5 or $8 million and make it all guaranteed why can't you guarantee a kicker's contract they're not getting hit that much that should push it over the top... Say offer him 7 million a year which still makes him the highest paid or whatever the number is just make him the highest paid but guarantee it fully...

This thread is about Aubrey. That is what I was replying too. This post:

You were then talking about total cap use at that point ... not just a record salary for a NFL kicker.

I added the unposted amount for the latest defensive end added to that positional group. Dallas is still building the interaction of the defensive line and secondary.

Linebackers bind the two groups together and protect down the center of the field. Yesterday, quick hitting routes were given too long to be successful. There was poor route recognition that poured out yardage all game long.

At game's end, game changers evened out and Dallas had the top kicker in the NFL. Once in a lifetime effectiveness to be more exact...your underlying message.
