I like Hurd... I thought when he came into the league he looked like he had a little something. seems like he really did all he could to learn from TO and Keyshawn as well. With the new wedge rules, I expect that guys like him -- fast, willing tacklers -- are going to be a little more valuable.

No doubt. As a #4, we could do much much worse. Should he need to be our #3 I wouldn't be terribly worried.

He's not an Austin and never will be. He could develop into a very good possession WR but isn't that really what RW is. He's more Irvin than Moss IMO. I do think he can stretch the field better than Irvin but is not as tough nor as talented. Yet.

If you think Hurd is an adequate backup I wouldn't object. And I do see a potential for him to push for snaps.

Is Hurd a better backup to RW, Austin or Crayton? I see him at the 3 backup but I think he's a better fit to replace RW's role albeit not as well.

Hurd always liked TO, and TO took him under his wing and I think, made him a better receiver. I actually think TO helped all our receivers.

You think he's as quick as MartyB? Or enough so to make a difference? I see him as a backup occ role player at WR but a good STs player.

I think he quicker than both TE I'm not talking 40 speed just quicker in and out of the breaks. As for his role I see him as a guy who can come into the game and help move the chains. He is not going to be the focal point by any means we have others who are star player who will get the majority of the touches but I think Hurd is a guy who can become a very good role player for us and in the course of a season you need those role players to come in and do the job.

I'm not certain he's that much quicker than MartyB but he is likely in and out of breaks better. I'm not certain he's that much better but I've not seen him this year. So...........

I agree he can be a solid backup and a good STs player for us. I'm not certain what his ceiling is. He's not a Miles Austin or Stanback in potential though.

I'd always be looking to find a better WR to replace Hurd; as of now.

T.O. being liked in the locker room by almost everyone isn't reported either... But I'm just glad the distractions have ended.

I would always look for better as well. Right now though he is having a very good camp and if he makes it, it will be because he earned it. I think it is time to Stanback to earn it as well because frankly he has done less than any WR on this team except for the rookies.

I'd put my money on Hurd being quicker

he's 6'2 while Bennett is 6'6"

He is having a good camp according to reports. And that's a good thing. I'm going to wait and see how he does but his upside doesn't impress me. I think he must get the most out of his talent.

I don't know. Marty is a BB player and pretty quick. Which is why I'm so high on him. I bet you see a lot of motion to the outside, lining up out there, and WR screens to MartyB. Give me some decent odds and I'll have Marty play him one on one.

Huh? That's been reported over and over again. TO is very popular with most teammates ... was in SF, was in Philly, and was in Dallas. He's probably already a favorite in Buffalo.

I was higher on Hurd than Austin originally. I'm not sure if that has changed.

Remember it was Hurd who played the #3 WR in 07 when we set all those passing records. He made plays everytime he was asked to. The Chicago game sticks out to me the most.

Austin has speed sure, but I hope he improved his hands drastically and his route running. Everything I've heard is that he has though.

I never understood the love fest for Austin. He's fast, but I just dont see this enormous potential everyone keeps talking about.

Oh well, as long as he can keep defenses honest and catch a few balls behind the secondary, we dont need him to be a gamebreaker.

This is the sort of thing ESPN never reported... TO being a good teammate doesn't sell ads.

There was an article a couple of days ago about Owens and they asked an anonymous Cowboys official about him and he basically said he didn't think Owens was trying to be a distraction, but no matter what he did, even if it was very innocuous, it wound up being a distraction and that's a big reason why he was released.

Owens was a good teammate and a productive player. Owens' critics need to get over that. However, the end result was he was a distraction even if he really did nothing. Remember, this was a guy who didn't talk to the press in the beginning of camp in '07 as he was rehabbing his hand and the media actually stated that he was trying to GET ATTENTION by not talking to the media.

Still, it was a distraction even if it was not by his fault and Owens' supporters (myself included) need to get over that.

You know, that was my original thought as for the reason for why TO was released. Good to hear there's some merit to that.

I generally agree with this, with the exception of the Deion Sanders interview session that he recorded and which aired right after the NYG2 game. That was beyond stupid, and it invited the type of criticism TO should have been trying desperately to avoid. And he's got nobody but himself and his good 'friend' Deion to blame for it.

I'm higher on Hurd than Austin. I know I'm in the extreme minority there, but Hurd just catches everything that's near him. Austin's got more ability to put pressure on a defense, but I can see Hurd developing into a Donald-Driver style receiver under the right circumstances. Austin's more of a Greg Jennings type.

There is a difference between being a good teammate and being a good team player.

T.O. may have been the former with certain members of the Cowboys, but he wasn't the latter, which is why he's not here anymore.
