Two more INTs by Sam Shields in today's game.

Ok -- this is sacrilege i know -- but with his 4.2 speed, those long arms, and his ability to mirror WRs, he reminds me of a young Deon Sanders.

I know that is crazy.. especially for a guy who wasn't even drafted this year -- but that what he "looks" like to me.

He's got good ball skills. Dude has tremendous potential.

It's painful to watch a guy so good that we passed on round after round after round....

Everyone passed on him. If we had a real football GM who can find talent like Ted Thompson, we would be playing Feb. 6th....but we have Jerry, a GM wannabe.

:laugh2: Packers passed on him 7 times as well.

That's what I said....everyone.

The players Thompson has selected in the draft have mostly all panned out, and the undrafted ones he signed are making contributions. They have great depth on that team. A lot of their backups are better than some teams starters.

Shield's stat line for the NFC Championship game:

2 Interceptions
1 Sack
1 Forced Fumble
4 Tackles

Wow.

Ted Thompson has only worked in an NFL front office since the year 1992.

Jerry Jones has been a GM and front office member since 1989.

21 years experience versus 18 years. Jerry may have been a "GM wannabe" back in the early 90s, but he is a "real football GM" nowadays with more experience than Ted Thompson.

People do learn, you know.

Don't you guys realize Ted Thompson knew this guy was a 1st round stud, he just passed on him 7 times because he knew only he was smart enough to sign him and for undrafted rookie money. :lmao2:

The Packers got lucky. Next time we go to the super bowl other teams' fans will be posting these threads except talking about how stupid their GM is and how the Cowboys have Romo and Austin going to the superbowl and didn't even have to draft them.

So why do fans give Jerry credit for Ratliff?

Some truth here.

I'd say they still deserve credit slightly ahead of everyone else (like us with Romo and Austin) because they did at least bring him in.

I think they found value in Starks in Rd 6 too, for that matter.

Joining a team with two existing Pro-Bowlers corners in Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson couldn't have hurt. I'm sure he is learning tons from those guys in the film room.
