Twitter: Sam Williams impact

It's crazy cause the knock on him was he couldn't stop the run but he played in a three man front in the sec and was undersized.
I don’t recall that. The only issue was his injury. He should’ve been an early first round pick

How many superstars can one defense have? Is there a rule...yet?
There should be a flag every single play on Mike Parsons. For holding. The game would never finish. This is going to get really good by the end of the season because Williams,is every bit as good in my opinion

I don’t recall you saying this. But if so congratulations. Because I think the kid is a superstar coming out of college. He could be actually another Mike Parsons. Yes that’s how good he is. Only thing held him back was injury
Bro, I believe @zrinkill did root for Sam Williams, as did I. I wanted Sam Williams late in the 1st if Jermaine was off the board or skipped, and I even said the Cowboys were sooo lucky to have Sam Williams still available so late in the 2nd round. I even picked him as my "pet cat", even though some questioned me how "pet cats" typically refer to late or undrafted players. lol

It's exciting to consider that Sam Williams is a mere rookie and already showing the promise that he does. It seems quite likely at this early juncture that in the years to come that we'll be privileged to see him thrive in a way that befits one of his abilities. I believe we'll all be very well pleased with him in the years ahead.

Good for you and me, both! I chose him as my "pet cat," too. He has incredible upside, for sure. ;)

i'm getting old so maybe i'm making stuff up lmao....

but i distinctly remember that being the knock and several of us in the draft forum saying that it was because he was undersized playing a 3 man front in the sec.

Sam looks like he will be wreaking havoc on this D this second half of the season and after. Another weapon on DQ arsenal. I am sure this game has given him confidence and DQ will use him a lot more. Offenses will be fearing 54 again, Randy White smiling.

Although he had off the field issues, it is surprising to me that he was not higher on other team's draft boards. There didn't seem to be a market for him. I remember when he was drafted he said he knew there was one other team in addition to the Cowboys that he knew would draft him if they had chance to, presumably in second or third round.
I think a big part was the scheme he played in. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure he was the one playing out of position and that hurt his stock as well

You're correct, bro. Several NFL sports analysts were saying that about Sam during the draft.

I said Jermain Johnson was too stiff....better against the run. He has 1.5 sacks and 2 qb hits on the season. Good player, not in my top 5 DE's in this draft.

I said Sam was the best DE in this draft and was mocked and ridiculed...lol While Hutch and Travon have been better than I thought, I believe I was correct in my Eval lol

Yup, i said it over and over again. People were saying he was bad against the run and stiff lol

I said he was playing essentially a 3-4 DE and still was holding up against doubles in the run game.

i dunno anything or heard about an injury, ...but from what i recalled there were off field issues such as sexual battery charges at college level.
and player wise he was critiqued for his lack of run defense.

But this was a 260+ pounder with 4.4 speed. and he was a prolific sack master at the college level.

- While the other areas of his game is still in the workings, ala run defense) as of right now, i'm only concerned about Williams being a undisciplined hot head right now.
And that continues to draw flags in every game ... the hands to the face, roughing the QB, late hits and he should've been flagged for the body slam on the RB.

- But we are seeing the great tools and great potential as "Sam I Am " gains more and more game experience.
Burst off the snap, great speed to power rush moves, he is translating freakish size/speed measurements into great play on the field- in just limited time.

Imagine when Damone Clark returns and we have two young stud defenders on the field.

Maybe that's why DQ is limiting his playing time: To keep him from biting someone.
