Sam Williams/Kneeland

I think these two move DE as a lower priority need wise, but aren't enough to keep us from drafting one if they're clear BPA. Excited to see what Williams can do this year.

If we're at 44 and a highly rated edge is there we shouldn't hesitate or if Mike Green is absolutely the top of our board at 12 with how it goes etc.

That said I think it's a lot less likely we go Edge in the first 3 rounds than DT, CB, RB or OL.

Yes, just like Lamb, they need an alpha opposite him on the other side. Just so many needs, just don’t think they can fill all of them in 1 offseason
We have 10 draft picks, plus UDFAs, plus FA..we can improve.

Q

You could get 3 and 3 contributors if you draft well.

They need to really study late-round guys..I think they have four 5th rounders.
Day 3 picks are usually depth or special team players early on in their careers. Yes, some buck the trend, but this isn't considered a deep draft.

A lot of decent to good edge prospects this year to grab, but we need 1 and 3Ts first.
THIS is why I'd strongly consider Mike Green at 12.........top pass rushers are hard to find outside of round one. Drafting a guy like Green gives you a top alpha opposite of Parsons for the next 5 years.....which Parsons's new contract would likely end.
I love Green. However 12 for a situational pass rusher seems pricey to me, especially right now.

In Eberflus system he'd need to play with hand in dirt unless he's a situational rusher. For this reason only Id lean toward Pearce, if off field issues aren't true.

Do they skip the position if a DE is there for them? They have Kneeland, who they were high on last year. Sam Williams is supposed to be healthy. Hopefully this makes them lean more towards DT!
They actually need both
Can’t roll the dice on Sam being the same player he was prior to the knee injury
Kneeland also was banged up and missed time

So I hope both positions are prioritized

How are you defining situational pass rusher?

Right now the DTs under contract are Mazi Smith and Justin Rogers. The DE/Edge players under contract are Parsons, Kneeland, and Williams (who's coming off injury). The DL room looks extremely thin. Fortunately both positions look fairly deep in the upcoming draft.

One of the best DL classes I can remember. If we decided to go DL 1st 3 picks I wouldn’t complain at all.

I would take two out of three of our top picks as DL.

One thing that always bothered me about when we had Demarcus Ware is how little effort Jethro put into finding a book end pass rusher. Almost Anthony was not it; never really tried otherwise.

I can see the same thing happening again now: we got one top pass rusher and several meh types and think that is enough.

I agree, pick positions that are strong in the draft. I don't think they can build it in one offseason anyway the Eagles didn't.

Exactly, load up on the strength of the draft because next draft will probably be light at DT n RB.
