Sam Williams/Kneeland

One of the best DL classes I can remember. If we decided to go DL 1st 3 picks I wouldn’t complain at all.
Yeah, but due to the $60 million man’s new contract, and our new HC being offensive minded, I fully expect an offense heavy draft. I would be shocked if they dont go offense with at least 2 of our first three picks.

Do they skip the position if a DE is there for them? They have Kneeland, who they were high on last year. Sam Williams is supposed to be healthy. Hopefully this makes them lean more towards DT!
I think as much as they will play Parsons at DE, it makes it less likely they take one early after taking Kneeland in the second last year.

I consider it a resource allocation issue, especially with Williams also a second-rounder.

Of course, the argument could be made if we re-sign Odighizuwa that we have almost as much allocated to DT. I fear that's how this front office will look at it.

Cowboys NEED TO TRADE DOWN in the 1st round (preferably twice if able to) and pick up an extra 2nd round draft pick. Use it on someone like Oregon DE/Edge Jordan Burch: 6'6", 295 lbs, 4.68 40 time...

DE is definitely a need and needs to be upgraded, but I doubt we draft one in the first 3 rounds. We also have glaring needs at DT, LB, RB and WR.

I suspect they will resign either DLaw or Gholston, sign a cheap DE in FA like someone from the Bears who Eberflus knows and maybe a draft a late round project. In other words, its a position that probably isnt getting an upgrade.
The problem with WR is this draft has so few worthy of a high pick and the rest I don't think are going to be better than what Dallas already has. IMO, if they don't use a first round pick on WR I don't think they will find what they need.

I think they can go with Golston/Kneeland as base DE's and kick them inside in the nickel. Question is who is that other pass rusher opposite Parsons? There is no doubt there is a need for another alpha edge rusher, but they have bigger holes to fill first, like their run defense. If they cannot sure that up, it won't matter who you have rushing the passer if they are in constant run/pass situations.
Williams getting hurt last year really was a setback. It would be good to know what kind of edge player he is. He showed some pass rush ability before he got hurt but that was playing in a limited role. Now they are having to guess about him. And we are too which is why we are looking for them to find another outside pass rusher.

He is a player coming off of a major knee injury, where they will probably bring him along slowly. Cannot be counted on as a starter, but they need to find out if he is worth an extension next season. He will be given every opportunity to succeed. With all this being said, I still believe they either resign Lawson or someone similar to shore up their depth.

You know how these dorks operate. They will be completely reliant on Williams being 100% and overplay how much improvement Kneeland has made during the offseason and do little to nothing else.

Sarcasm aside, the one silver lining is Williams tore his knee up during last year’s camp so he’s had an extended amount of time to rehab the injury. Lawson should be resigned because he played well and he provides insurance with the draft.

I wouldn’t rule out DLaw from returning, it will be up to him if he wants that last pay day and move his family. Sam is entering his contract season, sink or swim time

I like Burch a lot but is he a 1st round player?
No, Jordan Burch is not a 1st round player. My apologies. I should have clarified myself better. I meant to say to use that extra 2nd rounder (picked up by trading down into the later 1st round our 1st round pick) on Burch.

Don't you mean ,.. do we skip the DE position...if a valued DE is NOT there for us ...?

Typo error?
