Same conservative Offense today

Jerry has already laid out the game plan. He stated "I'll think you'll see a lot of Zeke". Hopefully scoring in this end zone and jumping in the kettle a few times.

Have they really "planned" to start conservatively in recent games?

They've had 2 games where they turned the ball over very early in the game. It was either the 1st series in two different games or maybe the 2nd series in one game and the 1st series in the other where they turned the ball over and the opponent scored early due to the turnovers.

My thought is that they were trying to come out and NOT be conservative but that it backfired.
We never knew because they turned the ball over. Got to hold on to the ball. These fumbles are ticking me off. And the drive killing penalties..

Could you please call someone and get that straightened out please...

I think the coaches will actually have coached this week due to all the criticism, we have seen this story before, always giving us hope that they will be consistently good, then the coaches turn back into stupid, incompetent and lazy..

They really do play much more to win at home than on the road. Has been like that for his entire tenure. I expect more aggression for sure. Coupled with the impending doom perhaps we will truly get a spirited effort all around.

I dont even know why he still wants the job in the first place. The guy constantly get pounded by the media and fanbase, and he has to be tired of the subparness that he is only capable of providing.

I'd intentionally step down.

If the rumors that the Giant would hire Garrett, I'm sure that is his dream job.

He could go back up where he came from. He loves everything about the New York & New Jersey area including his story of attending dozens of Springsteen concerts, his Alma Mater Princeton being in New Jersey, his time spent with the Giants as a player and obviously his time as a child growing up in New Jersey.

If not the Giants coaching job, he seems like he would be happiest coaching somewhere up in that area. If the Princeton Head Coach job were available, he would be the perfect fit there and the could likely stay there until he is ready to retire. He could likely be both the football Head Coach and the Athletic Director. He would likely relate to Princeton players better than he relates to many NFL players.

Have to be conservative when you have a QB like Dak who's limited in his ability.

I am not sure if he refuses to run when he could or it has been coached out of him.
I am not sure either but it’s becoming apparent to us and other teams that they no longer need a spy on him. If they are having to spy him then it’s one less in coverage.

That’s kool with me. Go for it guys...

I suppose there might be a trick play or 2 but Garrett doesn't come up with much of a game plan on a regular week, he surely can't on a short week.

I had to look back to see what they did early in games:

Turnovers on the 1st drive in the Giants & Lions games.

Patriots Game:
  • Punt
  • Missed FG
  • Blocked Punt
  • INT
  • FG Made
  • FG Made
  • Punt
  • Punt
  • Punt
  • FG Made
  • Turnover on Downs
  • End Game

I would not feel sorry for him if I were you. He gets paid millions each and every year and not know the nuances of the game of football.

When was the last time you heard him talk about certain plays in detail like Bellicheck or even Urban Meyers?

Garrett is nothing more than a glorified cheerleader. There is a reason why the media is hard on him because he really isn't a good coach.

2 bad series..

Missed FG, Blocked Punt & INT on 3 consecutive series.

Punts on 3 consecutive series.

A failed 4th down attempt.

The last FG made was a huge failure with regards to that series.

The blocked Punt and the INT were directly linked to scores for the Patriots.

The Cowboys defense had been struggling but in the Pats game they only allowed 13 points and 10 of those points were directly tied to field position due to the blocked Punt and INT.

Then there is the debacle when the Cowboys required 3 plays to Punt the ball. The line of scrimmage was originally at the Dallas 40 yard line when it was 4th down. The Patriots ended up with the ball at the Patriots 38 yard line. That is only 22 yards of field position gained by the Punting process. They might as well throw and intentional INT on 4th down if the Punting process can't function better than that.

The Cowboys lost the game against the Patriots much more than the Patriots won the game against the Cowboys.

The defense was definitely good enough to win. It helped that Pats don't use the type of zone blocking that the Cowboys have struggled with against teams like the Vikings, Jets and Packers.

Obviously the officiating contributed to the loss with the NFL admitting that both tripping penalties were bogus.

Summary:
The loss firmly points to coaching problems.

When teams "beat themselves" it's a coaching issue.

Neither the Offense or Special Team needed to be in a mode to take chances; therefore, we can't blame those failures on a team taking chances because the Defense was over-matched.

They just needed to cleanly execute a conservative game plan but that did NOT happen.
