I think that there are a few points to be made about Parcells...
A) He is a stubborn *** of a man, no doubt...
whether or not you like him, or hate him, this fact is undeniable. I like him actually, but I still know that he's just an old grumpy man.
B) He was a brilliant coach...
back before free-agency and the league was filled with egotistic millionaire players. Parcells is an egomaniac, and because he is from the old school, there is only room on the team for one such person. In a perfect football nirvana, all of your players bob there heads up and down at your every whim. But it's just not that way anymore... players are making more money than Fortune 500 CEOs now.
C) He is still is a brilliant on the draft board and bringing in players...
regardless of how much you may hate him. He knows that both Taylor and Thomas are old and reaching retirement soon, and shipped them out to help usher in the future while they still have some value left. It will certainly make for an ugly football present in Miami, but his plan will work. He has built a winner in every team he had a hand in, even when he was unable to coach that same team he put together.
D) Regardless of my high regard for him...
I'm glad he came here and helped us build a contender, and I'm glad he exited once the winner was built... because he can't coach a winner in todays NFL. It doesn't mean he's good for nothing, it just means that he's just good in a different area than he was 20 years ago in NY. He has the connections and respect throughout most NFL circles, and this goes a long way in helping him in his current role.
