Swift Key is the gold standard for keyboards. Adjustable key sizes and the best text prediction in the industry. It learns your style of typing. After a week it is almost flawless.

You can also modify the colors and back-lighting of the keys. Try it.

Hmmm, I just checked out the galaxy s3 and hated the auto correct. it's the exact kind i despise. i wish i was able to see that when i was there.

Next time you are in the store ask the sales people if they have swift key loaded. Most hard core android users do. I hated the original keyboard and text prediction also.

Swift Key fixed my only quibble with the phone. Everything else is awesome. I love video taping the kids and playing it back on my Samsung 60" with no wires. My 4 year old gets a real kick out of watching herself after dance rehearsal.

The sharing technology built into the GS3 is unbeatable. Both my wife and I have one. You can share pictures by touching the phones to each other.

Yeah, to be honest I wish you hadn't told me about swift key. I was all set on the iPhone but now I'm going to have revisit it. As soon as I started typing on it I put it down and walked away.

I have someone questions. I've been an iPhone owner since the first week the first one came out. I've bought every new model as soon as it came out(not the S version of any).

I'm seriously considering getting a Samsung Galaxy S3 but some things have me leaning back toward the iPhone are the following:

Siri - mainly just a competent and well functioning voice command function
As mentioned above, Google Now is better than Siri, but Android offers alternative options as well such as Personal Assistant.

Safari - I love how if I bookmark a site it automatically shows up in safari on my iMac. I also love the new reading list which I use all of the time. i'm constantly adding things to it.
Google Chrome also does this. I can work on something on my laptop and continue right along where I left off on my Android. bookmarks and everything syncs.

AutoCorrect - As annoying as it can be on an iPhone it's better than the others I've seen.
Never had this problem on Android. It gives you word suggestions that you can use, but doesn't automatically replace what you are trying to type.

iTunes - I like that I can access every song I've ever purchased through iTunes when I'm away from home and put it on my phone.
The one advantage of iPhone, but you could easily just transfer all your songs over to your Android MP3 folder.

Anyone care to chime in on how these things are on the Galaxy S3 and if there is anything similar or better on that phone?

Android offers Swype, which is worlds easier and faster than standard texting/typing, and also eliminates the problem of auto-correct. I don't think this option is available for iPhone. Check out the link.

Also, since Android is Google based, it syncs all of their programs together seamlessly as well, just as iPhone does with their programs.

If you are considering getting the iPhone 6, keep in mind that it doesn't have Google Maps (as far as I know) and the map system that the iPhone is offering is severely behind.

Just so you know, my girlfriend has the iPhone 5 and I have compared it to my Android, and I came away underwhelmed with the iPhone 5.

Opera mini browser is pretty slick. Kick the tires on that browser when you get a chance.
I use Opera Mini and like it a lot.

Glad I came to this thread. I am typing on the SwiftKey keyboard right now. So much better than the previous. I am probably just going to buy it.

I tend to use my phone to browse and screw around if I am in bed watching tv. If I come across something good I add it to my reading list then hop on my iMac and it's right there to use. It sounds like the function that's been mentioned in this thread is the opposite of what I do. I really just want my computer and phone to operate seamlessly.

That's pretty much how it works as well. It may have one additional step, and that is to press the sync button, but that takes less than two seconds. Example: I'm on my phone browsing web>> I decide to get on my laptop>> Open laptop and press sync with device>> Same webpage pops up on laptop. The same process works if I want to go from laptop to phone. Is that how the iMac works?

Nope. What I do is click two buttons to add the page to my reading list. Then all I have to do is hop on my iMac and under the reading list there I can find it immediately. Same thing applies to bookmarks. I just add the bookmark on safari through my phone or comp and it shows up on all of my devices.

I'm literally having a hard time deciding which is annoying. I'm going to be getting an iPad or iPad mini mainly for browsing when I'm not near my comp. I really like the SIII but I'm not sure if I should just stick to Apple so they are cooperating with each other

If it wasn't for the ease of use between apple products it would be a no brainer for me. The SIII is def a better phone.

Edit*** apparently there is something called iCloud tabs on the new iOS that allows whatever you're looking at in that tab to show on all of your other devices.

Siri - Samsung S III alternativce is S-Voice. They both stand up well against each other.

Safari - Google Chrome works the same way I think. It's all based on your profile you are signed in with. Same desktop widgets/bookmarks you have on your phone logged in as you would have on your PC logged in.

AutoCorrect - Both phones are idiots w/ auto-correct. I turn mine off.

iTunes - I have all my important songs on my phone and can access it anywhere w/o dialing back to my PC or using a client to access it. The Amazon MP3 cloud player works very well.

I just had one of our developers switch from iphone to the Samsung SIII just yesterday. He loves it. We also compared it to another technicians new iPhone 5. I am partial, so the 5 just wasn't holding water w/ me. The tech was all...WELL I CAN FIT IT IN MY POCKET. I was like...so can my phone and your screen is ITTY BITTY.

I couldn't get over how small the screen was.

S-Voice is NOT a Siri replacement. S-Voice is absolute garbage. The android included update that comes with android 4.1 is a siri replacement however.

Browsers are a wash. There are dozens of browser apps for android.

I think Android is a little better with autocorrrect but both are bad.

Personally I am someone who switched from the iPhone after multiple years to the S3. Both phones have their perks. The S3 has neat graphs, statistics and much more flexibility. The S3 is much better for someone who wants control and loves streaming movies. iPhone is definetly easier for music and podcast due to the built in iTunes ecosystem. The Google Play has a way to go until it is as simple as iTunes and with no native podcast support I have to use 3rd party apps. An extra $3 is not something that should alter your decision on which phone.

I personally prefer the S3 as a phone but the iPhone as a networking device. The iPhone is much more.... social... I guess would be the word. I dislike the Apple monopoly on the industry and that is what keeps me with S3. I think more competition will motivate Apple to do something great again instead of small, incremental changes every year. 2 of my friends now have the S3 due to my convincing so now I can use the S3 eco-system with them and have fun. Another friend regrets waiting for the iPhone 5, he preordered it as soon as he could and now that he has it he wishes he listened to me and got the S3. He dislikes the new back, says it removes the fashion aspect that made the iPhone great. The maps update is now notorious for it's fail. The other updates are negligible.

This is one factor that should alter your decision in favor of the iPhone however (I didn't read the thread really, I just own an S3 so wanted to comment) - If you have an iMac and an iPad the connection is great and dozens of features were added to improve it with the iOS 6 and I can only imagine it will again take a great jump next year. The S3 is compatible with the iMac and iPad of course but having the complete Apple suite is a very appealing option and in this case you should go iPhone.

This is really the only major reason why I still lean toward an iPhone. I have an iMac, and I'm getting an iPad very soon(or I might wait until March for the new one). I do want an S3 pretty bad but the way Apple products work with one another is something I can't look past. It's actually very annoying.

It was a truly genius way to go about it by apple (see the play :p: ). I think since you plan on getting a iPad and already have an iMac I would lean towards the iPhone, aslong as it's not a old mac as then next year you'll be in the same situation where you are forced into buying another Mac PC because you already have the iPhone and iMac...

Truly great way they set this all up, if you have 2/3 you will be forced to basically upgrade one of them each year and very expensive to stop going with apple products you basically have to replace all your products. Once they release the long rumored apple tv this evil scheme will be complete. Watch live cable on your iMac anywhere, access recorded programs, on your iPad and iPhone watch live TV - set DVR to record - doubles as a remote. One this comes it will make getting the full apple suite nearly a necessity for people that like phones, computers or tv... Basically everyone :laugh2: . Apple shouldn't wait too long because once Google Glass goes retail at a decent price it will begin to put an end to entertainment as we know it. Augmented reality is the future.

Which new one are you talking about? The iPad mini is supposed to be announced this October.

I guess I'm not getting it because both features sound about the same to me. The only difference appears to be that you add whatever you are looking at to your read list on your iphone and then open up that list on your mac, whereas on an android, you just press the sync button on the laptop and it will display whatever webpage you have open on the android and vice versa. Bookmarks automatically sync together. Either way, go with what works for you.
