San Diego Chargers reportedly open to dealing the third overall pick; will the Cowboys trade up?

...Even though they have the third overall pick in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers may not plan on keeping it.

The Chargers are reportedly open to dealing its pick, a move that would not be considered unusual for the franchise that has dealt its first overall pick in the past.

The Dallas Cowboys rumor mill regarding a quarterback has been swirling since the Tony Romo broke his clavicle for a second time on Thanksgiving.

However, with no clear cut No. 1 quarterback in this year's draft, the Cowboys may have its eyes set on one player in particular.

If Jerry Jones & Co. deem the fourth pick worthy of a quarterback, San Diego may have a buyer for its third pick - and Dallas may trade up to snag Romo's heir. But only if quarterback is the route Jones decides to take

At this point I'm expecting the Titans stay put and go Tunsil, Cleveland goes QB, and San Diego is an unrecognized wild card. They could go QB, trade down, or pick defense same as the Cowboys. Too many dismiss a QB at 3, be it SD or a trade partner.

It would really suck if they did. Makes the 4th pick far less valuable for everyone

None of these articles speculating about someone trading up ever finish the job and offer a case for who would trade up or what the cost would be, for two reasons. One, lazy, click-bait writing, and two because it's highly unlikely any team would do it.

I don't see any reason for any team to trade up in the top half of Round One. Who is the elite prospect worth that?

Wentz/Goff if the rumors are to be believed. That's why it might be possible for us to trade down to 15, and it might help someone else trade to up to 3.

I do not buy that anyone trades up for Wentz or Goff. They don't have the pedigree right now to justify giving up additional players to acquire them. If you are the Rams do you give up your first and both second rounders? Seems like a lot for a player nobody is too confident about. Niners still have Kap and Gabbert for now.

There's no need to trade up. Nobody's likely to jump us for a QB at 3. If they do, we get the best defender on our own board at 4.

Exactly Idgit, you and me are on the same wavelength here buddy.

Titans are going to take Tunsil in all likelihood, the Browns are going to take a QB, and the Chargers are probably going to go defense. So either Goff or Wentz is going to be sitting there for us at 4, so no need to give up a 3rd to move up one spot.

And in the unlikely scenario that the Chargers do trade the pick to a team wanting a QB and lets say both Goff and Wentz are off the board, then we have Bosa fall into our laps and he is only the best defensive player in this draft.

Its really a win win for us either way, just stay at 4 and let the draft come to us.......don't give away picks, that is stupid.

I'm moving up to 1, trading all my picks to get there and forfeiting the comp picks in the interest of fairness.

My draft class....

1(1) Carson Wentz QB North Dakota St.

We are in the win-now mode with Tony. No way do we blow two early picks on a QB who will not contribute in at least two years.

On the other hand, if chargers just want an extra sixth or seventh, I would consider trading up to get our guy (QB or not).
