San Diego is a BIG LIE!

Drew Brees won't be without his #1 option very long he is only serving a 1 game team suspension, Brees will have Antonio Gates next week.

He hasn't been in the league long enough to have a normal year.

They were drafting in 2004 top 3 for a reason!

They played a last place schedule! They are going down hard........

Lets break out their 4 losses -

Jets 10-6
Falcons 11-5
Broncos 10-6
Colts 12-4

Including Jets choke in playoffs they were 2-5 against teams with winning record.

Lets look at who they beat:

Texans 7-9
Titans 5-11
Jags 9-7
Panthers 7-9
Raiders 5-11
Saints 8-8
Raiders 5-11
Chiefs 7-9
Chiefs 7-9
Bronco's 10-6
Bucs 5-11
Browns 4-12

For a better analysis you really have to factor out the path of destruction the Chargers left behind. When you do that, most of these teams don't look so bad. The Chiefs in particular could have had a winning year were it not for the Chargers. Also, the Chargers lost to AND beat both the Broncos and the Jets. That just goes to show how competitive they actually were.

Sorry man 12-4 is still 12-4. They may have holes but the Chargers were (and probably still are) the real deal.

If the offense can score some points it should be an easy win. I don't think the Chargers are going to move much on the young and upcoming "D".

I agree, I think the Chargers are a good team but with some weaknesses. Schotty builds some good teams and this one is going to be a good test to see just how good this new Cowboys team is.

The Bolts still have to prove that the success of '04 was not a fluke. The only way to do that is on the field. Still, for those saying we didn't beat anybody, how many teams that we beat would have been playoff teams if we hadn't beat them? The Chiefs, for one. The Jaguars, for another. The Panthers, though I'll admit the Panthers were a shadow of themselves early in the season last year. The Saints.

But you should also note that we didn't just beat the average teams last year. With a couple exceptions, we dominated them. We also didn't lose any games against teams that we should beat. Two of our losses came to; the Falcons in Atlanta by 1 point, in their yard, and we lost to the Colts by a field goal in overtime in their yard. Both of those teams are considered elite by most. In the playoffs we lost to the Jets on a field goal in overtime.

There was no one who dominated us even on our worst day.

It's a new season and anything can happen. I know this from last year. But it does get rather tiresome hearing the same reasoning this year as to why some team is going to OMG***PWN!!! the Chargers as we heard all of last year. You guys are saying the exact same things we heard pretty much every opposing fan say last season.

There's really no such thing as a last place schedule anymore. Your standing in your division only determines 2 of the games on your schedule, the rest is the same as the other 3 teams in your division.

Plus, if I remember correctly, out of those 4 losses, 3 of them were on the road, they were all close games, and the losses to the Jets and Denver came early in the season before they hit their stride. I watched their game against the Falcons which they lost by 1 point in Atlanta, and I can confidently say they deserved that game. They also only lost to Indy by 3 in Indy.

They're a strong team and shouldn't be overlooked. Drew Brees wasn't a fluke, he was merely finally living up to his potential.

Gates out
Merriman - Is he out?
You were drafting top 3 in 2004 for a reason
That was a pansy schedule
Brees had a career year

Don't for a second think you have a 6-10 team on the plate. Dallas is going to give you all you can handle and then some.

Thanks! :) It was nice having a non-hostile conversation with opposing fans last night. Most opposing fans are pretty shrill.

And welcome to the board.

I look forward to a good hard fought football game!

Chargers Opposing teams overall record: 127-133
Cowboys Opposing teams overall record: 132-128

Take away each teams respective wins and losses..

Chargers Opposing teams overall record: 123-121
Cowboys Opposing teams overall record: 122-122

I guess our schedule was a cupcake as well? We did well with it, that's for sure.

Absolutely you did......I don't buy into the junk that said you had an easy schedule.

Anyone that saw the Chargers play last year now that they were a good team.

I'm very nervous about Sunday. I think we can win....but we'll have to play tough.

Interesting post Nors. You do raise several good points with some insightful assertions. I really liked it! Now if it will only work on Sunday.........

Dallas can stop the run or atleast contain it, I worry about Drew Brees who finished third in the NFL last year, with a 104.8 quarterback rating.

I agree. I'd be very pleased if we come away with a victory, but I'm really not getting my hopes up. I know when the schedules were released I basically chalked this up as an L since we play terribly on Opening Day usually, and we were playing at a play-off teams house (AFC play-off team, even moreso). Since Gates is out and we seem to have gelled in the preseason, I'd say we have a pretty decent chance, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Preach on brother Nors, preach on! :)

This San Diego team is good, but they're not the world beaters that people here would make them out to be. I'd take our quarterback, wide receivers and defense over the Chargers' any day of the week and twice on Sunday. They are playing without Gates and without any legitimate threats on the perimeter.

Yes, they still have LT. Yes, their defense is stout. But to listen to some of you, the game is unwinnable. Nonsense! Like Nors, I not only like the Cowboys to win, I like them to win big (double digits). There are always a few shockers in week 1, this will be one of them.

I predict Bledsoe takes this game over the top. I'm sticking to 34-17 Win

SanDiego was bad against pass last year. We can expose them early with the pass and hit them with JJ as game goes on.
