Evidently you felt the need to reply. No doubt many like you will stand there and say if it does not affect me then it is no big deal. If that is your additude good for you for others it is just another instance where people with the power are telling us what we can and can't have because they seem to think we are incapable of making choices for ourselfs.

But you don't work for the city of San Francisco, so nobody is telling you that you can't go downstairs to your breakroom and buy a Fanta Orange from the Coke machine.

I so wish the Big One would hit and sink San Francisco to the bottom of the ocean.

I wonder how this will affect Coca Cola stock.;)

Can the stock wether this?

And how will the city of Atlanta retaliate? Will the Atlanta mayor now disallow all contracts with businesses in SF? Let the fun and games begin.

Hmm so coke is outlawed, but diet soda is still allowed? Diet soda is actually WORSE than regular soda; if I HAD to choose between sugar and aspartame, I take sugar 100% of the time.

diet soda is worse but you wont find sugar in most sodas.Instead they are made with high fructose corn syrup which also is bad for you.

The sale of Coca-Cola is now outlawed at San Francisco City Hall. That means if you need to wash down that tofu turkey dog, you’ll need to order a bottle of soy milk.

Mayor Gavin Newsome has issued an executive order banning Coke, Pepsi and Fanta Orange from vending machines on city property. The directive also includes non-diet sodas, sports drinks and artificially sweetened water.

That means you can no longer “Do the Dew” at City Hall. Dr. Pepper? Not welcome and neither is Mr. Pibb.

Even fruit juices have come under the mayor’s scrutiny. Juices must be made from 100 percent juice with no added sweeteners.

So what’s a thirsty San Franciscan supposed to drink?

Well, according to the mayor, the city’s vending machines will be stocked with a wide variety of “healthy” alternatives. Imagine nursing a glass of rice milk or perhaps soy milk on a warm, sunny day. The machines will also be stocked with water — provided it meets fat and sugar content requirements.

The indulgence of soft drinks has an over whelmingly negative effect on the health of the U.S. population. Not unlike Tobacco and Alchohol.

Besides if you're really hot and want to cool down, cold water is the best thing on Earth.

Sorry I do. You are an adult capable of making your own choices I nor anyone has the right to take that choice away. This is a legal product if you choose to limit your intake of a certain food or drink well that is a choice you make. Problem we are seeing is where does it stop? When is it not alright for any Government official to dictate what you can or can’t have because it does not meet their standard of how they think you should live?

More and more people are obsessive, these drinks are very unhealthy for a person, especially when consumed is such a manner.

How low of a standard are we setting by letting the weak minded individual continue to engage in what amounts to suicidal behaivior?

Well in the past fat idiots and the like died quickly and therefore made the rest of the population healthier. Now we save the morons and they cost us. Frankly healthcare should be refused to fatso's. Unless there is a medical reason for being overweight, let them die.

Nanny state BS. You can not cure stupidity

You have to also consider that the government has to protect itself from greedy lawyers.

There are people out there that don't make wise decisions for themselves. They then hire lawyers to sue city, state or the federal government for not protecting them from themselves. That is why there are seat belt laws or laws stating that companies have to put warnings on rat poison. Trying to avoid lawsuits plays a part in some of the laws that get passed. This may not be the major influence in the passing of this particular law in San Francisco, but I am sure it does play some part.

As far as silly laws go, this one is pretty benign. People can bring their own sodas from home. No one is saying you can't buy a coke. You just can't buy it from them.

Edit:
It is just soda. It is not as if they are banning selling pets or anything.

How about beer? Worse than soda.

How low of a standard are we setting by letting the weak minded individual continue to "drink large amounts of alcohol" in what amounts to suicidal behaivior?

Hey, maybe, we can call it soda prohibition and bring back the bootleggers peddling coca cola.

The city should just pull vending machines from all of their buildings and let the arguement die. The machines do not have to be there and if they are the city has the right to decide what is being sold in them. I can't believe some people are audacious enough to tell the city what they can or cannot sell in their own buildings.

For anyone to get up in arms about what is NOT sold in vending machines on city property is pretty silly. No one is telling anyone else what they can or cannot drink. The city is simply deciding again what they will advocate through their vending machines. It is business as usual in city vending machines and in machines across the contry where the OWNERS of those machines/space decide what will be offered in them as they always have.

Did people get up in arms when Pepsi had the contract in their city's building thereby refusing to offer Coke?

People can bring pop from home, or walk across the street and buy one at 7-11 if they feel the need.

I know there are plenty of legit anti-government sentiments. This one is not one of them.
Get one of those personal sized refrigerators and stock it with coke from home. Save money and have your drink of choice.

I hope they legalize it. Tax the ever-loving **** out of it and put that money to good use.

I don't even use it but it's completely ridiculous to keep it illegal.
