Sarcasm: Manning is Elite!

Our defence played great and hassled Manning into a bad day. Full credit, I was thrilled with our defence.

Not sure what you're trying to argue here though: If you think Manning is an elite QB (as I do), then you've got to be thrilled with today's performance. If you don't think Manning is elite (the implication here), then why is today's performance such a big deal (if all we did was hold an average QB to a below average day)?

The argument is simple. Eli Manning is a great Quarterback. He routinely comes up big. We made him look like Trent Dilfer.

I'm proud of this defense. That's the big deal - people thinking that our defense was "not for real" or one genius around here thinking we could win with Alan Ball and Orlando Scandrick starting at CB are all wrong.

With this defense, all we need is for our offense to just not turn it over and we can win a lot of games. Eventually, the switch has to flip.

Most Cowboys fans can't see the big picture. This thread is proof. There isn't a New York Giant who cares about anything aside from their team leaving Cowboys stadium with another W.

Predictable. But you were probably one of the same people *****ing after we left Bank of America Stadium with an ugly win.

Don't worry, I won't check your posting history. I already know it's true.

Whereas Cowboys' fans take this as some kind of a win. "We almost won" has become enough to satisfy people. "We looked strong in some areas" etc. etc.

Perfect. I agree, it's just that so many people seem to think Manning is average when he's anything but. I mistook this for another "Eli sucks" thread, and for that I apologize.

Too bad we can't give the 2007 or 2009 offense to this defence, huh?

Man, I just don't know. How long have we been waiting for the switch to flip in one area of the football team just in time for another to start struggling. The only consistent thing about the Cowboys the last 15 years-ish is our inconsistency.

Really, any offense from any previous year, other than last year when we couldn't run the ball.

We need to draft someone to play Right Guard this next year. Road grader like Barrett Jones from Alabama. We have to run the ball to be successful.

It's building. I know it's hard to see, and it might be a bit painful along the way with the media conditioning everyone to think that if you win you're a hero and if you lose you're a bum, but it's building.

Think about it - under Wade, what would this team have done down 23-0?

Oh, we would have absolutely quit. No question about it. I give our team and coaching staff a lot of credit for not just curling into a ball.

Still though. What a frustrating day in a season of frustrating days.

It's going to get better. We're not done improving.

We've solidified the defense. Next up is the offensive line, and probably WR3.

Next year I think we can actually have higher expectations for this team. This year of course we can compete, but I don't think we have all the tools to win the whole thing, and I never did.

I blame fantasy football

Defense was great today. They were also great @ NY, TB, CAR. pretty good vs Chicago as well.

Most of us don't look at it as some sort of win, so you're wrong. Absolutely wrong. Create a poll if you want proof.

Manning: 15/29, 192 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 58.4 QB Rating.

Granted I'm sure the "realists" will descend upon this thread like flies on ****, if our offense is ever able to get out of its own way, and if we can sneak into the postseason, we'll be a tough out with the way this defense is playing.

Also, I don't ever want to hear someone tell me cornerbacks don't matter. That stat line is a direct testament to the upgrades made at the cornerback position.

Flame away.

Defense played well, but Manning remains undefeated in our new stadium.

I don't care who you are. If you are unbalanced, and you can't sustain drives because you have no confidence that you can pick up a first down on 2nd and 4 by running the ball, you're going to lose more often than not.

We have to eliminate turnovers. All four of our losses have resulted in us spotting the other team at least a touchdown:

@ Seattle: fumbled kickoff - 3 points. Punt block - 7 points = 10 pts.
vs. Chicago: pick six - 7 points. INT - 3 points. Fumble - 3 points = 13 pts.
@ Baltimore: kickoff return - 7 points = 7 pts.
vs. NY Giants: pick six - 7 points, all 5 other turnovers - field goals = 23 pts.

When you spot the other team points, you're not going to win more than you lose. So far, in games where we haven't spotted them points, we won. In games where we did, we've lost.

Didn't Chicago take two picks back for touchdowns against us?

I do see it. But then I've never been a member of the IGS. People can talk about Hrbaugh but he walkedinto a pretty good situation. Singletary handed him a world class defense.

We agree on that much.

How many picks for Eli again ?

Hmm...not bad considering he was off and played against one of the better defenses.

Morris Claibiourne is an incredible talent. Love that kid. He's gonna be a superstar in this league very, very soon. The defense overall has played very well this season. The offense is just killing us right now.
