Maybe he just needed to be in the right scheme. He certainly looks the part.

There is no doubt he needed to be in the right scheme.

He was a 4-3 defensive end playing 3-4 defensive end. Completely different skillset in the 5 technique than 6/7 technique.

I particularly liked Broaddus talking about how impressed he was with Laurence Gibson "from Boston College" and how every time he watched Boston College he liked what he saw from Gibson. It might have been on Friday's video.

This is what happens when you pay no attention to the draft until January and then start fielding questions in February.

Sorry, can't put the video up but while long this is a great look at the rookies. Russell and Gregory look good as DE. Can't remember the name but I like one of the UDFA centers I think 60 is the number. Farmer and Whitehead ran nice routes. The TE Swaim looked really good as did a couple of the CBs. Green not so good. Two DTs showed some can't remember the names.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a CB and 1-2 receivers make the 53. Definitely some guys out there that will make the PS.
If it was a center it was probably #62 Shane McDermott - Miami, #60 is workout OG Nico Carlson - Rice.

I thought both looked good. So did #66, Fortenberry, and #74, Dill? Green looked pretty bad. And Gibson was inconsistent. Still very early though.

Jones was very fluid and gave virtually no separation with any of the receivers. I like how he stayed in their back pocket without being grabby like the other DBs. He stood out the most.

He did have a faster three-cone time than London Collins, Dante Fowler, Bud Dupree, Shane Ray and Owa Odighizuwa.

But based on the video, he looked very slow coming off the line of scrimmage.
Again, let's not mistake cone drills for actual speed on the field. There are many players whose times are rather pedestrian in simulated drills who play faster on the field.

Yeah, thanks. I remember the name now that you've mentioned it. Might be in the hunt for a job as backup C. Very good body and arms for center.

I've talked with him enough to believe he watches some film. I agree he's gotten too busy with other things to do it a lot. He does watch the players up close and live so he gets some respect from me for that. I listen to him and read his scouting reports but take them with a bit of salt.

So your statement was based only on this practice video?
