I'm sure he'd love Herbert but managing the game needs to be the HC's decision. I'd think they'd let Payton have that control, as opposed to how they're managing Staley.

Payton 10years ago was a dam good coach, but may be not now. Wish we had him paired with Romo and that might have given better playoff success

If the head coach isn't allowed to manage the game that doesn't seem like a situation that would be attractive to an experienced guy like Payton.

Payton's people have laid major hints he's slobbering for the Charger job.

For me this game is no-lose situation. If Chargers lose, Payton is in.
