Every Dak thread is a hate on Dak thread. At least that’s the way it ends up because Cowboys fans all think they know better than real football people. Those who have played or coached and studied players for years.

well the football people in charge of the Dallas hasn’t won crap in 24 years so I fully expect them to overpay again.

I know I know another Dak Thread, but in all seriousness, the Jones have done this in the past and said we will not deal with certain agents and have chosen to not sign players who work with unreasonable agents. Id say Dak we are going to Franchise tag you and we are going to draft a QB in Round 1,2 or 3. if you cannot find a Another agent we will be forced to move on from you... Not because we do not want you but we cannot work with your agent.... Let him chew on that and go back to his agent and say OK OK guys this is nuts my favorite team is about to draft someone to replace me because we cannot come to an agreement, let's sit down and get this done.

That's the kind of thing Jerry should have been doing. Also could have let Dak's agent talk to other teams and get us some picks for him. Once Dak is tagged, Jerry should be talking to some of the prime free agent QBs. A couple of HOFers available.

But it's hard for Jerry to have much credibility with all his public talk of having no Plan B.

Jerry *should be* publicly saying that the Cowboys QB position has massive marketing value to a player, he expects that to be taken into account by players in contracts, and he will be talking to free agent QBs to do his due diligence to find the best value at QB for the team.

If for nothing else, that will focus media attention on the COwboys, and eyeballs are money in sports entertainment.

The Cowboys should have signed Dak immediately after the 2018 season. The longer they wait the higher Dak’s price will be.

Dak and his agent know the Cowboys won’t be able to replace him by drafting a QB.

My only problem with that is guys like Martin got paid because they were elite at what they do and Dak is getting paid simply because he’s a QB that isn’t terrible.

Not really my question.
Your opinion is well documented. Don’t get me wrong, Dak isn’t on the level of zack, but he’s far better than you slot him, and my issue was zack not “playing ball” and passing the buck to his agent.

I honestly believe Jerry thinks he's a modern day Mark Twain and loves his flawed persona.
He knows he's already going to be remembered and even revered by some long after he's gone.
He is truly a legend in his own mind, in the truest of senses.

That may be where Steven could give something more than his father:
His persona.
Business is business and then you're a part of the team.

Not the midnight rambling Roy Rogers dad.

I don’t consider the Jones “football people”, just wannabe’s. He’s a great owner, but it ends there.

Probably greatest sports entertainment businessman. Most valuable sports franchise in the world, for years running. NFL HOF as an owner.

Trophies are extra.

This is the same agent that represented Romo during his Cowboys years and still does today while Romo is with CBS (which he just got paid as the highest sports announcer in sports analyst history). Did you complain against Romo when this same agent secured Romo top overall QB pay from the Cowboys when he was playing?

Romo's agents when he was playing were Jimmy Sexton and then R.J. Gosner. Tom Young and R.J. Gosner are his agents now. Prescott is repped by Todd France.

True statement about the Dak threads Rock, but some of those "Real football people" apparently are not so smart and knowledgeable or the Cowboys wouldn't have gone 24 years and counting without a Super Bowl.
Jason Garrett was supposed to be one of those "Real Football People" and thank God we got rid of him! LOL

I wasn’t talking about the Cowboys football people(other than McClay) and talking about Troy Aikman, #88, former and current coaches like Jimmy Johnson, etc.

I wonder if this isnt a stumbling block in actual talks....

What #4 "deserves" based on stats or whatever.

No!!

This is all based on the alternatives for the other side....if you dont see it my way I will....

You will what? Who has more cards?

Unfortunately its Prescott in this case. Jerry doesnt want to start over and his agents know it.

If he misses off season work with a new staff, the chances of the team winning this year go down considerably. The player always gets his money with Jerry.

Daks agents are aware of all this and are sitting tight, and while not holding ALL the cards, they have Jerry beat and they know it.

That all said, if Jerry has the nerve that he claims to have, you take Love or Herbert at 17, and sign Cam Newton, and let Prescott show up in week 10 and ride the pine.

BUT...Jerry wants to be Mr. Nice Guy and be liked, and keep quiet out of "respect" and also win the negotiation. Haha yeah Jerry. Get the checks out pal. You lost and while you may not be out of your league in these negotiations, you dont have the cards to win, nor the nerve to bluff.

Then what happens if you pay free agent money for Cam, then Dak signs the franchise tender week 1?

Cam isn't getting stupid current QB money (30+ M yearly)

Outside of LA he is getting backup money or quitting.

That of course assumes he will accept the former, which I suppose IS a strong assumption.
