The Modern NFL is set up for Offensive coaches scoring and handy capping the defense. case in point all the coaches who where fired this year were defensive cordinators previously.

The NFL is set up for Offensive coaches to succeed. If you ask me we need a HC that has Offensive background OR a FORMER ASSISTANT HC that has done both sides of the ball.

Salah is interviewing, i like him as a Defensive Cordinator and i'd like to see what his take is on offense and how he's going to tackle handling Dak. I still think Moore or Prime are your 2 front runners and they can build there staff as see fit. BOTH have history with Zimmer and this organization, so he could slide right back in as DCORD.

Cowboys need a leader. That's more important than offense or defense. Saleh is a much. better choice than Moore. I'd prefer guys like Ben Johnson and Kubiak but at the same time I think Saleh can lead men if allowed to. Aaron Rodgers killed that for him.

I disagree.

OC for young QB, DC for seasoned QB

Dallas needs their defense overhauled; on offense they just need more talent. No OC in the world is going to make Dak what he’s not, but a DC can give him a run game and a dominant defense
To be honest, I dont put that much into where your HC started. I think there is a slight skew to that side of the ball, but ultimately how those unit perform comes down to the coordinator. For a HC, Im looking for a the guy that can best manage the game and team

Its not about making him what he's not. I think what people want is a offense that can score effeciently. Dak is a All Pro. He doesn't need to change or improve. The offense needs to be more balanced. Regular season scoring is fine but when the playoffs come the game gets tougher and more physical. I'm for whatever coach is going to make us a more physical team.

Depends on whether or not they are culture changers. Culture change is what the team desperately needs. That said I dont see that hsppening under current ownership no matter who gets the job.

Yep. I know the numbers say these guys are offensive minded but I don't care. Give me the leader and a guy who can manage the game over a guy who can score 60 points on bad teams.

Yeah that's the thing....we need a culture change that starts at the top. And that's gonna be tough to do with Jerry and co. here. But I still want the best candidate available.

umm yes, no ,blah blah blah we do NOT have say and for sure Jerrys not reading this.. I prefer a hard nose type and that usually is defense first.. defensive coaches understand how important it is to run the ball and stop the run. they dont get caught up in being "cute"...Hero ball etc..

Sean McDermott, Dan Quinn & DeMeco Ryans seem to be doing pretty well. There is a reason teams have O & D Coordinators. The important thing is the head coach is a leader, fosters the right culture and hires good coordinators/assistants,

I used to agree with this thinking. The NFL has in fact made offense very easy and made defense next to impossible to play. I hate it but I don't blame them because it makes the nfl far more money with high offensive numbers.

With that said I think it might be best to have an OC that can concentrate solely on offense and not worry about anything else. Give me a DC as HC let him handle more responsibilities.

Agreed 100%.

I lived in Boise and have been watching KM since he was a freshman. What you see is what you get - he's always been that guy. His leadership at Boise State was based on being a Heisman finalist stud quarterback - the players all knew that the team would go however far his left arm would take them. With an NFL team though, what's his authority to keep leading when his team starts struggling?

From what's leaked out, the Jets sound like an absolute circus. Rodgers playing GM, Rodgers changing almost every play on the line, the actual GM veto'ing trades based on Madden ratings, etc. Saleh kept control over the defense, and the Jets defense consistently played well, but the rest of that team was a dumpster fire. IMO, Saleh's got enough of an alibi to earn a second chance as a HC.

I typically like an offensive HC just because I think its easier to switch defensive systems every couple years rather that offensive systems when your OC leaves. With that said though the Cowboys have a 10 year veteran at QB and the path to success with them really seems to be playing really good defensive football. Often times I would agree with the OP here, but the Cowboys almost seem like a perfect fit to go grab a top notch defensive guy right now.
