Look at how other players are living and spending their money. Romo makes over 5 times what Scandrick does and lives much more modestly and responsibly.

And it's funny how it hasn't stopped you from calling it "modest" and a "good investment", has it?

The fact is that there's a list a mile long to be found of pro athletes outspending their NFL salaries and ending up broke. Guys much more famous and making a lot more money than Orlando Scandrick.

Sure, as long as they continue to hand him money. Just signed the new deal in 2015, now getting what? another $4 million? No, as long as that pattern continues, everything will be fine. We'll see what happens down the road.
Oh, **** off, dude. One of the top ten commandments of not being a baby back ***** is to never count another person's coins.

Stephen has also said that he likes to leave a cushion into the season so he can deal with eventualities.

But that cushion is usually something that can easily be created by converting salary to bonus. You've got tons of guys who you can do that with - financially, having the money sooner is always advantageous. So there really is no need to do this ahead of time as it just involves a quick call to the agent and a couple of electronically transmitted documents.

If you have only a short window in which to sign a player then I could see why they would want the room on hand. Convenience and expedience are valid reasons and there is no downside now that all cap room can be rolled over.

Scandrick is a public figure. That isn't a fair characterization. You don't do it to others because it is social relativism and makes people mad. Scandrick isn't reading this I don't think,

Then our opinions differ. I think it's more home than he can reasonably afford.

It sure is, and I'm sure he's not hearing or worrying about any opinions being expressed here, and as long as his financial choices or otherwise, don't negatively affect this team, I don't mind too much.
yours is a specious argument your making judgements without looking at the books and a 3 million dollar home in Cal isnt that outa sight.

The downside is that you've pushed money for a vet into later years. Of course, looking at O's deal, this looks like a year we had pretty much an automatic restructure in place as this was the year with the biggest cap hit

What "cracks me up" is anybody trying to put the words "$3 million" and "modest" in the same sentence.

He's already spent 16 percent of his total contract value, a good portion of which he may never even see.

Not the first guy outspending his income, not the last.

A fool and his money...

Let's not forget a 1/3 or more goes to the IRS.

Could very well be wrong, but I dont they will make that kind of expenditure on a backup at this point. Your back up is essentially a 3rd stringer once Romo comes back. I think thats why they are looking at Davis, because you get a 3rd string with quality NFL starts
I'm w you. Think good chunk of change for a guy who hopefully won't play. But then again look at what other vet qbs we've paid

Let's hope they aren't clearing up cap room for the signing of one Mark Sanchez.

He's earned $20m in career earnings.
You mean to tell me that purchasing a modest $3million home in California is something he can't afford? Pssh..

This is what cracks me up. We have no idea how he manages his money, and from what I've read from beat reporters in the past, he's very responsible with money. Nothing about him suggest he's spending his money unwisely. Yet folks stay counting these guys money like its theirs. It's hilarious.

Crackpot negative interpretation of the facts based off of very little available evidence is what we do best around here.
