Twitter: Scandrick did a surprise onside kick in Madden against a kid in the hospital

Talking down to someone you disagree with is no way to convey information. I know something about this topic (interacting with a child with a fatal disease). I don't appreciate your condescending tone. Do you think "fairness" is a concept that rings true to child with a fatal disease? Think about it from their perspective. What is fair about their circumstances. Innocence with a death sentence and you think they care about your ideas of fairness in competition. Fairness is not a luxury that favors them.

I think doing all you can to let them know you care and will do anything to ease their burden is what's important. I don't see where kicking there butt in a video game accomplishes the bigger picture. I don't recommend making it obvious but I have no issue with throwing a game to see a smile on a child's face. You may have to sell how hard you tried to win but you do it.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!! :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Thank you for your refreshing perspective. I'm surprised - and somewhat appalled - that you got only two likes.

For all the seriousness expressed by a few in this thread, I think these kids KNOW they're battling something more serious than a game. They're reminded by the fact of where they are...a hospital. They're reminded by the treatments they probably had to go through before AND after the players visited. And if playing video games with a pro football player who treats them as equals and with some semblance of normalcy for a couple hours then I don't think that's a bad thing. I'm sure they have enough people feeling sorry for them.

It certainly sounds like the kid who played against Murray enjoyed the experience and Murray has given him his number so they can keep in touch. Sometimes you gotta appreciate it for that moment in time and know that the kids will remember it forever.

yeah little kids playing video games like it if you treat them like adults when playing them (i.e. don't let them win)

If anyone is familiar with the Chappelle Show, there was a skit just like this. He's playing a cancer patient in the hospital on a game called Street Hoops and he is letting him have it. It was hilarious.

When I was growing up, I always played my uncle in video games. He was 16 years older than me. He would kick my behind at Tecmo Super Bowl on Nintendo. I did not care at all. I loved the competition and loved when I finally won, it was worth it, not a cheap gimme win.
