Scandrick informed he is being released

LOL! Maybe you believe he has been a bargain. Why not? You consider it "savings" when we only have to take a 4 mil cap hit for him this year and he is finally off the books next year.

Great "savings". It is almost as if he will play for free next year.
Players cost money........CBs cost big money....even slot CBs.....OScan was a good contract

But cutting OScan still saves us 7m and all you can do it cry about the 3.8m in savings that we already took years ago

Can't fix stupid

What an uninformed take on the cap and OScan.... take a pill
This is the guy that said the following would be terrible because of the dead-money involved.

Player X restructured to free up 10M in cap space.

10M in cap space carried forward.

Player X cut after 1 season with 10M in dead-money.

Last off-season we heard how we will be just fine with Scandrick, Carroll, and the rookies.

Now it's "good riddance" to Scandrick.

I wonder how some of these people function in real life. Do they have their own opinions or just wait for their bosses, spouses, and peers to tell them what to do?

I'm okay with the release of Scandrick. We have four CBs in Awuzie, Lewis, Byron, and in an emergency, Anthony Brown, that we can get by with. My concern is the same as it's been the past few off-seasons: Are we getting better? Are we making moves that improve our talent so that we can compete for a championship?

Really they save 7m

1.4m on this years cap and 5.6m on next years cap

2019 goes from 63.3m under to 68.9m under
You are correct. You can go to overthecap.com and then go to the Dallas Cowboys calculator and then cut Scandrick. The 1.4 million savings really only comes out to about $900K in 2018 because even though you are saving $1.4 million you have to add another player to replace Scandrick which would most likely be a rookie at around $500K. The big savings is on the 2019 cap ($5.6 million) which can help in the signing of Martin, Lawrence, Irving, etc.

Cool that is kinda like going to work and having your boss say we are going to fire you now go back to work

We didn' sign Mathieu he went to a more aggressve FO

you are wrong
they save 1.4m this year
and they save 5.6m next year = 7m

are you new to math?
That's not how it works. The Cowboys save 3mm in new liability to Scandrik. Everything else is merely accounting and owed no matter if Scandrik plays for us or not.

People not understanding how signing bonus and restructure prorations work is an annual amazement.

Hint. That 7MM number you came up with ... Look at Scandrik's non guaranteed base salaries the next two years. Add them together. Magic?

or it can be borrowed this year to sign EThomas or Suh or a LB or an OG

Cant even get a conditional pick for a good player?

How inept are these people.

are you dense?

he was due 4m next year.....that is now gone.....they saved 7m total

3m from 2018 base salary
4m from 2019 base salary
7m total saved

I wonder if he will sign in LA with Wade and get to play at home. He could be the third Vet CB they sign/trade

While I agree....Scandrick was more than likely getting cut anyway. He was almost traded last year. His body is breaking down.

Yeah but there's less chance of injury sitting on the bench.
