There are other members who enjoy conspiracy theories. They will be happy to derail this Scarlett Johansson sues Disney for releasing ‘Black Widow’ in theaters and on Disney+ thread as much as you if they should read your comments.

I have never even looked at q. History is about religion and beliefs. Your idea of history is skewed, but I will leave it be.

Well, I'll tell you this, I won't be spending 30 bucks to rent this movie from Disney. I might have gone to the theater to go see it for 10 or 12 bucks, just for the experience of the big screen but you don't pay a premium price to watch it on your own TV IMO.

Agreed. Either I go see it before it leaves the theaters or I wait for it to be free, or at least reasonably priced.

Exactly. You already have to pay for the Disney Channel streaming rights. Why would you pay that kind of price on top of that? I agree RW.

$30 is a one-time price. Family and friends can watch or re-watch it for as often as they want. Not trying to convince anyone to think otherwise but 30 bucks is only true for a one person/one-time viewing.

I only watch most movies once, and I live alone, so it would probably just end up being just a $30 movie.

But there is nothing that suggest that more then one person will watch it. For example, I would be the only one in my house who would watch it. So basically, it still comes down to 45 bucks to watch. 30 for the show and 15 a month for the streaming rights.

I agree, if you have a house full of people who might want to watch it, it could be worth it but for me, it's not even close to worth it. So the question becomes, what route to market is more lucrative? I can't answer that, under current circumstances. But, I know that for me, it's definitely not worth it.

I have a daughter, son, daughter-in-law and two friends with my Disney+ and HBO Max access. Mine may be a minority situation but it is not unique in any shape, form or fashion just by listening to other folks I have spoken with about streaming services.

Edit: Whoops! Forgot my granddaughter. She would be upset that I did not mention her.

I collect the ones I like on BluRay so seeing a movie in the theater and then buying it is usually more than $30 and if someone does have a family, weigh the theater investment against $30 and providing your own affordable food.

I think I am different as I never want to watch any movie once and regret the time investment unless that's going to reap future dividends. I have movies I watch every year and some even more frequently than that.

I am all lined up to watch my football collection this month in preparation for the season. That's a dozen movies that I have seen a dozen times. Same with baseball, love baseball movies, do not like watching baseball.

I do not consider this normal behavior but do not consider myself normal so I am fine with it and will answer to no man for this behavior. Well, maybe you, but only if you ask nice and are not judgmental as I have already judged myself abnormal. Judge not lest ye be judged unless ye be judging ye.

I think Johansson has a very good case. There will be more cases like hers to follow and Disney has some explaining to do.
Agree, these contracts stipulate the differences in compensation, particularly for the home market. Just like these film companies license the music that they use, a different fee for each use, trailer, film, DVD and streaming. Same goes for the actors, especially the A list ones. The stars seldom do a buy out contract, meaning a one time compensation.

I re-watch movies and television series and used to buy them DVD then BluRay, although I purchased far more movies than television shows lol. That changed for me with the availability through streaming services. Many films and shows can be re-watched on Netflix, etc., so I stopped buying them on disk mostly.

I am glad I did not get rid of any of my disk collection. Some stuff I have on disk is hard to find on streaming services or in better digital quality. For instance, I have the old original Tenchi Muyo! anime on disk. The OVA can be found on Funimation (which I tend to regular subscribe) or Crunchyroll (not a fan of the streaming service) but I still prefer digging out the disks and slipping them into the ole PS4. Gotta give the old console some exercise since any games I play on it are digital downloads anyway. :p

They're not always available when I want to watch them so I still collect them. And I need more room again.

I am also a creature of habit with watching sports movies when the season is close to beginning, watching The Hobbit, that has gotten better with every watch, and Lord of the Rings every fall/winter and Harry Potter most of them. I do the Star Wars thing, all of them in chronological order and I take my criticism cape off, the Rocky series, Rambo, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Alien, Batman, Diehard and watch my military collection on Memorial Day weekend, D Day, VE Day, VJ Day, Veterans Day. and Pearl Harbor Day. The only holiday I don't celebrate with movies is Labor Day and am thinking of collecting movies with the main characters out of work and job hunting.

My wife had a funny line and observation about my proclivities one time. She said you are one of the most unpredictable people I have ever known, except when you're predictable and then you are one of the most predictable. Then, she assigned me a "honey do" so I wouldn't waste the day working on a comeback.
