Sean Lee coaching: Not sure how this surprised anyone. I mean yes perhaps a DB Coach should be more aware there but Sean Lee has been coaching since Penn State. And players argue calls with position coaches virtually every game at college and pro levels. When Witten retired we knew great things were coming but we weren't sure exactly what. When Sean Lee retires there is no question he will be a Defensive Coordinator day 1.
McClain signing with ATL for 4M is a minor bummer but I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised DAL underbids at 1T. They consider it a part-time position. He left for a reason. Didn't come back for same reason.
Fair to note DAL has been pretty good versus the run the past 3-4 years without a name 1T. Haven't been very good without Sean Lee though. Guess maybe DAL spent the money wisely.
Dak at 40M? Don't let trolls with high paying TV jobs suck you into nonsense. Dak's worth a lot more than his current NFL best starting salary of less than 1M but he's not worth 40M per year. No one not named Brady, Rodgers or Brees is. And those 3 don't make that much because they realize they might as well retire if they do because it'd be a bunch of rookies around them on the offense.
AoN: Again not sure I get the overreaction to every thing... and I mean EVERY thing. Perhaps grown men should avoid reality TV? They haven't grasped this is essentially wrestling yet huh?
Cowboys "model": If you are trying to present yourself as intelligent around the Cowboys please just forget this model talk altogether. DAL is not unique or even rare IN PRACTICE.This team has an Owner who's also a figurehead GM. But Stephen truly runs day to day football operations and Charlotte runs day to day business Ops. Will McClay is the actual GM who sets the draft board, self evaluates the team and coordinates overall talent acquisition. He defers to Stephen for contracts and coaching matters.
Oh and Yes McClay is a top 10 GM candidate. He's not average or spare. 10 is actually about the number of GM offers he's had from other teams. Arguing the Dallas front office is shy of talent or held back in some major sense is just willfully ignorant. IT does have to deal with Jerry's photo ops but it has free reign on a day to day basis. And occasionally Jerry does the heavy lifting like shaking hands with Dez and letting him know he has been released.
Draft class: All in all Dallas got good value and came away with a lot of talent. Every one of those guys have to prove it now but the team gave itself a very good chance going forward by adding all these young guys that are very affordable. Always is nice if need and value mesh and that looks to have occurred.
But we'll see.
Draft part 2: If you question some of the picks that's quite alright. IF you however want to suggest Dallas has a poor draft history of late then you really should stop and immediately re-educate. DAL has some issues that are very easy to question: Coaching, Off-field, FA et al but the drafts have produced. The 22-10 under Dak is mostly with draft picks. You win at that rate while not signing any contributing free agents and you can safely say the draft has been good to you.
2017 sucked for Cowboys fans. AoN seems quite a raw re-living of that. Dallas entered the season with DLaw, Irving,Carroll suspended and got to face the Zeke thing all year. They also had injury concerns both in camp and in season. If you list your top 10 Cowboys players I'm guessing they faces some issue. Let's all hope that was just a bad luck year.
