Scenario 1:
-Dalton comes back, starts putting up 300+ yards a game and 20+ points a game (this is feasible)
-Cowboys Defense will not be a shut down defense, but they continue to improve, gets sack and turnovers
-Special teams continues to improve

The NFC east is bad, and the cowboys could win the division, and it might be a slim chance, but have a chance to make a playoff run

Scenario 2:
The cowboys tank, get a high draft pick, but they don't win the nfc east for 3 or 4 years, because all the other teams have high draft picks and improve.

QUESTION:
Would you regret giving up a slim chance at a playoff run if the cowboys dont get another chance for 3 or 4 years?

With their current defense the Cowboys stand ZERO chance of winning in January.

If dalton plays up to the ability he has, he has the weapons to put up points on any team. If Gregory, Dlaw, and Smith continue to improve, they can get sacks and turnovers. You can not say they 0 percent chance

Ive been a huge critic of the defense so far this season, but they only allowed 24 to an undefeated team and were able to force turnovers against the Eagles the week before. Cutting Poe and getting LVE back was critical for helping against the run...believe it or not I do believe they’re improving.

scenario one is total dream, wishful thinking, all the stars in the milky way and the next galaxy and the galaxy after that alighed.

scnario two is realistic and I tend to keep my foot on the ground as opposed to my head in the cloud.

any given sunday

In week 7 or 8 when wentz went down with an injury, would you have said "you have your head in the clouds" if you think foles will come in and win a superbowl?

Point is, they have a chance to get to the playoff now. Would you regret tanking that, if they don't get another chance for 3-4 years

We have no shot at winning post season this year. Tanking and getting the highest possible draft pick gives us the best chance to add talent and possibly win the next few years so that is my vote.

How many threads are we going to have for us to pick from these same two options. My answer is on the other similar thread.

I would have expected them to continue to be competitive.....Foles had previous history of doing well in Philly......their defense was playing very well. their OL wasn't injured and was playing very well.....teams have had post season success....and they had the great coaching that season.

this season, with all the injuries and current state of the team....I doubt if scenario 1 happens, its head in the cloud...

the only reason we have a chance to make the playoffs, is not because we are good. its because the division sucks. there is a whole world of difference. we would be a bad team making the playoffs and a low draft pick. not a formula for future success......take your lumps. leave moral victories behind, stick to reality....

Mine too.

The only scenario in play is that we have a shot to win the NFC Least, and as long as we do the Jones' will not look at any other option but possible revenue, not next years status

Please explain how the players and coaches tank?

I guess I think of it in a statistical way.

If the cowboys don't get another chance at the playoffs for 4 years after this one:

Then in 5 years they had 0 % chances
Where as if they dont tank this year, and go for it, they have 20% chance in the next 5 years to make a play off run

25 year drought from the superbowl, and just in sports general, taking any shot you have is not head in the clouds.

People are giving up on a chance this year, and betting the farm that next years draft will get them there

good point

Bad wording i guess. I meant people wanting the cowboys to lose for a higher pick opposed to winning and having a slim chance at a play off run

but that was my point. its a head in the cloud. good teams make a run, bad teams fizzle out quickly. like I said, the only reason we would make the playoffs is because the division is bad, not that we are good. so go into playoffs, in a division with all of 10 wins between 4 teams......we would have no chance to make any kind of a run and this is not cinderlla, there is no glass slipper for Dalton. he is what he is. a QB who folds in big moments. to imagine him making a run. winning 4 games. like I said, all the stars in milky way have to align.

don't get me wrong. I love my cowboys. but this is a bad team. steelers under estimated us...perhaps watching film, they fell sleep....they woke up in the 2nd half and exerted their will on the cowboys. they weren't even disguising what they were doing, going 5 wide most of second half......

we suck....yeah it hurts. but we suck...

and I think if we get rid of some more dead weight (which I loved). and get rid of crawford and jaylon. and draft some defense in the first 3 or 4 rounds.....and one or two key FA signing (even all of this is next to impossible given this team's history of defensive drafting and FA signings).....we would have a much better chance...

Neither scenario. The tanking theory is just something I would never subscribe to. So that's a hard no.

Let's talk about the 1st scenario and the fact that anyone would suggest it's feasible. It's NOT feasible. It never was and never will be.

That would mean Dalton would pass for 300+ yards in the 7 games remaining. Lmao, nope! Not happening.

2011 - Did not pass for 300+ yards in consecutive games.
2012 - Passed for 300+ yards 2 games in a row, once.
2013 - Passed for 300+ yards 4 games in a row, once.
2014 - Did not pass for 300+ yards in consecutive games.
2015 - Passed for 300+ yards 3 games in a row, once.
2016 - Passed for 300+ yards in 2 games in a row, once.
2017 - Did not pass for 300+ yards in consecutive games.
2018 - Passed for 300+ yards 2 games in a row, once.
2019 - Passed for 300+ yards 2 games in a row, once.

But you think it's feasible to pass for 7, 300+ games?

Scenario 2 without a doubt.

This team with Dalton will never win a SB even if we get to the playoffs we're just hurting ourselves.
